To fix or not to fix.

So I've got this old Peavey (Studio Pro 112) and it isn't quite working. No matter which channel you use or which input you use it like to go from 0 volume to full blast if you turn the volume knobs anywhere over completely off. I'm pretty sure there was something wrong with it to begin with since the overdrive channel sounded almost exactly the same as the clean but now it's definitely useless unless fixed.

It's a fairly cheap amp (I think you can eBay them for like $150) so getting a tech to fix it would probably be dumb. I'm considering trying to do it myself. I've built a mic pre before, cable tester box, and I build my own cables so I'm somewhat skilled I just don't know how the hell to troubleshoot the thing. Anyone have a suggestion or know whether it'd most likely be beyond a DIY repair (like changing the speaker, changing a pot, etc.)? I hate the idea of throwing amps away.
