Question G-Force vs G-Major

Wich one would you choose and why? knowing both are from the same maker and a big difference in prices.

Do you need an intelligent harmonizer? If not, then you really don't need a G-Force.

G-force is way better. Better AD DA encoders, better routing capabilities, and better sounds in general, it's also made in Norway (Finland maybe) as opposed to Taiwan and has better general reliability.

But, for the price, the g-major is a much better deal. I recently upgraded from a g-major to the g-system, and I think it's money well spent, but I find myself wishing the FX were as good as a g-force.

I've had no reliability problems with my G-Major, nor have I ever heard of anyone having problems. Most of the other stuff you mention really only comes into play if you're trying to chain together a bunch of effects in a particular order. If you're only looking to run three or four effects max at a time, then the G-Force is overkill.

I'd love to have one, but I don't need one. A grand for an effects processor is more than I can stomach, especially when I'm only running a couple of effects at any given time.

I've read reports of problems with the G-Major, but not enough that I would be dissuaded from buying one. Actually, I'm currently chasing some on ebay (won one today, but didn't hit the reserve ).

The G-Force is an amazing unit, and has more features than the G-Major, but bang for the buck you won't do better than the G-Major.

G-Force is cool, and will do more than you need it to, but at the end of the day, are you really going to use all the effects and capabilities? If you just use reverb, chorus, delay and such to spice up the sound, or the odd phaser/flanger, then a g-major is more than enough, and I couldn't be happier with mine. They are slightly fragile, but all rack gear is, and that's what rack cases are for.

THe extra money for the g-force isn't worth it unless you have wads of cash to blow. Better off getting the g-major and then get a ISP decimator and that will just kill pretty much everything else with a good preamp.

Is the ISP *really* that much better than the gate in the G-Major? I figure I'd ask, since you've obviously tried the built-in gate at some point.

Yes.

I run an isp rackG and bypass the gates on my major or my system.

HOWEVER!

You can run the ISP pedal straight out of your guitar, and then use the g-major gate only on your dirty patches to cancel any system hiss/noise if you have a noisy amp/boost setup.

There's no need to get the rack version unless you have the cash to blow.

Yes. Miles better. The G-Major really didn't help much with the triaxis, as it's a noisy piece of gear, really did struggle and to get it gating made the tone suffer, deadened it quite a bit, and just never worked properly. The only place it did well was running the g-mahor between the triaxis and the power amp, and that was OK, but killed the preamp output level and was just really not usable that way.

The ISP works much better, it pregates the signal, and then gates it straight aftwer the power amp, just completely annhialates noise and has an intelligent gate that looks at your playing. If you want a chord to ring out it will, but if you want it to stop dead, it'll do that as well. It kind of looks at the guitar signal over time and figures out how hard to gate it.

Seriouasly, best noise gate i've ever tried, better than an ns-2 and better than the g-major, and better than both used together.

My question now. Are the effects quality pretty much the same in both units? I'm really concerned about the sound not really the features or options available in one unit or the other. And what about the Noise Gate on the G-Force compared to the ISP Decimator?
