The G-Major FX quality is pretty close to the G-Force - it's the same engine. However, they degrade faster when you're using more than two or so, and the G-Force has a lot of stuff the G-Major doesn't have, like an EQ that doesn't suck.
Since I really only use mine for chrous, delay, and reverb (and seldom all three together), and the occasional flange, the G-Force was overkill. However, if you need the features, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a G-Force. |

I know this is a little off topic, but I got really interested in this decimator gate. Which it's better to get, the pedal or the rack unit? Seems to me that the rack unit is more reliable.

If you really want total overkill you can get the stereo mod version, which has a guitar input for the noise gate, and then two gating channels for a stereo setup, and I think it's only a little bit more. You'll never need anything else! Seeing as you can quite happily always leave it on, I'd say the rack is a better bet, especially if you have other rack units! |

I have both the pedal ISP and the rack. The rack version is good if you have a noisy setup, IE your amp sucks or you use a boost so you need something to get rid of that "hiss". If you just want to gate your signal when you're not playing and keep your axe from feeding back, the pedal is fine.

The parametric EQ & the compressor in the G-Force are second to none & absolutely blow away the competition. You think your guitar sound is good, just wait until you have this EQ & compressor after your preamp, it makes all the difference in the world IMO.
The delay in the G-Force is modelled after the TC 2290 as well, if I recall correctly. It's an expensive unit, but I definitely think you get what you pay for with this one. I run the Parametric EQ & the compressor on almost every patch I have. They're both phenomenal. The pitch shift on the G-Force is great too, as long as you're doing single notes. When you get into chords, it's not good as it tries to search for the notes. But this pitch shifter is excellent when used with single note runs, clean or distorted. Bottom line IMO, if you're looking for a great unit that can handle delay, reverb, chorus, flange, etc., and that's all you want, definitely go for something like the G-Major or the Rocktron Xpression. They're both great units and would suit most guitarists well. However, if you're looking for an absolutely awesome life-changing array of superb effects & sound production, go with the G-Force or Eventide. ![]() |
