Overdrive pedal question

overdrive pedals add a gain boost correct?.....and they are intended to further overdrive tubes yes?.....will these work with ss amps?...will they strech the sustain and add gain to a distortion channel on a ss amp?...or will they just add noise and feedback?.....plz respond

I've tried a tube screamer through a SS and it kind of just makes it noisier

Yeah, they definitely don't have the same effect on SS that they have on a tube amp, especially if you're just using it for the boost and eq effect, and not actually going for the OD sound.

Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on MySpace, and Soundclick, too.

Well, aside from the fact that what he said is true, he was just being blunt.

I'll just echo what everyone else is saying though, it doesn't have the same effect. It makes loud noises, that's about it.

EdgeCrusher is just really niceEdgeCrusher is just really nice
I've used a Bad Monkey overdrive in front a Crate SS amp, and with the gain all the way down on the pedal, and at about 1/4 on the amp, it sounded much tighter and clearer than it did before.

My TS808 and Bad Monkey both sound great in front of my Vox hybrid amp.

An OD pedal can work great on an ss amp on the CLEAN channel.
If you add OD on top of gain on the amp, it will sounds like shit for sure (really noisy).

It's true though it does a better job with tubes.
