![]() | The epiphone valve junior thread anybody else here have one? I bought the combo a couple of months ago and i was blown away. Obviously its not "OMG BOUTIQUE SOUND LOLZ" but its way better than any 100 dollar amp ive ever seen. It isnt so good for 7 strings, but for 6 string acdc/van halen-esque powertube distortion it rawks. Ive been running mine through a fulltone fatboost, a boss ge7, and my marshal 1960a cab with really good results, and ive also used it live (in a small gig setting, haha) with a Boss Os-1 overdrive/distortion. There are alot of people who are modding the crap out of these amps, and i think i might get one to mod, or purchase an already modded one. Maybe someone out there does a mod that sounds really good with a low b? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | google "gmm20" and see what coems up for VJ mods. my friend got the head, and its got nice cleans and that classic rock crunch, that's it. that said, it is damn good at what it does and the price is hard to beat. and of course, now everyone else is jumping on the "low wattage class A 2 tube wonder!" band wagon lol. i dont think that's a problem, though. VJ through a 412 is more volume then you expect! 3 cheers for free gear! "Do you like burned toast with your JAM? cuz we're on FIRE!" ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | So i was in my local shop today, just picking up an AC adaptor for my StroboStomp and some picks (they had some Ultex Jazz IIIs in stock, so i picked one up to try out along with a pack of .072 teardrop Ultex picks), and there was a guy sitting there running the Valve Jr. "micro half-stack" through its paces. I was seriously impressed with the tones that were coming out of it. He tried it with an Epiphone 335, then a Tele, then a Strat, and in all cases, i heard a really broad array of tones from warm and clean up to spanky and gritty. He didn't crank it too much as the store didn't have a "loud" room, but it could get quite the bark going. Cranking the amp up and rolling the volume on the guitar back, he was able to get some really singing "violin" tones as it fed back in a very musical way. I couldn't believe that little thing was only 5 watts. I'm not surprised i liked the sound of it. I seem to have an affinity for EL-84 power sections. I may have to consider picking one of these up. I love how the little head looks on top of the extension cab. I'm thinking one of these with a hot plate would be a blast for a home/studio/practice/recording amp. Joe, how did your Valve Junior mods turn out? What would you charge for a modified VJ head? Is it possible to put an effects loop between the pre and power sections? This space intentionally left blank. |

| My first idea was to get one and connect the v-amp/pod to it. I also found this a while ago: HARLEY BENTON GA5H - U.K. International Cyberstore ![]() |
