I've got a couple of tung sols in the V1,V2 slots in mine and JJ's the rest of the way (power tubes as well)
the tung sols killed some of that annoying "honk" that you can get out of these combos at low volume.
I love the way mine sounds now.
it even sounds pretty good clean now too.

i'm sure most people will agree tung sol reissue in v1. i use groove tube russians (sovtek rebrands i guess) in my head with the tung sol in v1 and jj's everywhere else.

JJ's for the works, tung sol is apparently the choice - get a full JJ kit, sell the V1 tube, buy the tung sol, rock out!

Alright guys, thanks for your input. What jj kit would be the best? Also I bought this used and Im not sure what tubes are in it cause I havnt even looked at it. so should I get it biased or just leave it because when I bought it like 5 years ago it was awesome and it just started crapping out last year (I mainly just used it for jamming at home and recording. I did jam with friends a good deal and played out with it like 3-4 times total). Also if anyone has vids of how to change the tubes in these beasts, I would love to see them because this would be the first time and I want to lean how to fix my shit myself so I don't have to pay anyone to do it for me.

you may want to take it to a trusty tech to have the amp biased. i think the regular retube kit from www.eurotubes.com would be fine, dont need any more gain then you already have...do you?! :P.

as for retubing its easy - pull out the old ones (you have to tug a fair bit, just dont break anything), and then push the new ones in. what i do is rotate the tube until i feel it sink a bit (means all the pins are lined up), then i push it in. i havent retubed a preamp section, but im fairly sure its the same thing.

keep the old tubes! its always a good idea to have spares.

I'm sure they're shot. They're the ones that came with the amp 5 years ago so who knows how old they are.

5150 combo is fixed bias, you can just pop the new tubes in.
Get them from Bob at eurotubes.com (the JJ's) he'll get you a matched set of power tubes specifically for a 5150 combo.
