![]() ![]() ![]() | Specific sound/effect help? i'm not sure where this should go, hopefully this is a good enough place ![]() i'm looking to figure out how Mick Thompson pulled off 2 certain sounds, both are the intro/first guitar tones from these 2 tracks, i've supplied youtube links to examples diasasterpieces - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUuOJixGYlE spit it out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5m971DiapY Anyone have any suggestions of what to try (unless you know what it is, even better i've got a couple of tracks i'm working on that these style effects would work good in, but i havent been able to figure it out. |

On Spit It Out there wet/dry mix is insane - there is hardly any signal coming through, its mostly just flange. ( )Either an EQ pedal (like the MXR EQ's or the Boss GE-7, or on the cheaper end an Arion or Merdian GEQ-2) or, more likely, an Ibanez LF-7 - the Lo-Fi. It was pretty much designed for sounds like that. I'm not sure they still make it and it is hard to get a usable sound out of it, but I enjoyed our display one at work so much I took it home for a while. They are either very cheap (people selling them realising it doesnt work for them) or very pricey (people realising other people want them). Flanger wise i'd suggest the Boss FL-2(cheap and plentiful) or the Ibanez Tone-Lok CF-7 (It is a chorus and flanger pedal, and bloody awesome). Hope that helps! |

![]() ![]() ![]() | yeah that helps a fair bit. i've got a gnx3k, so most things i already have at my disposal, just kinda need some pointers to get going in the right direction. i at first thought is was weirdly setup wah on spit it out, but i tried everycombo /setting i could and couldnt get close to it. i'll try messing around with some flanger settings. |

![]() | actually on spit it out hes using a processor with a humanizer effect, if you look on youtube theres a vid of him and jim displaying their rigs and explaining things. for disasterpieces jim is playing it on the album and mick plays it live so it depends on what you're looking for. hope that helps. |
