CRATE BV300HB and BV150HB

Anyone here used or played through these heads? Just wondering how good they are! I know the BV120HB heads are fairly decent.

Actually, I was just wondering the same thing. I found a BV120HB head for $500 and now I'm extremely curious.

I've been considering selling my Dual Rectifier and getting either a Peavey JSX or the Crate BV120HB. If anyone has any opinions it'd really be appreciated. I'm going for a death metal distortion tone, very thick and heavy, but also a smooth, crystal clear tone for clean passages.

ENGL Fireball?

As for the Crate, 1349 use a Blue Voodoo, sounds alright but very thin and buzzy for death metal...suits black metal perfectly

I know it's much more expensive, but if you really want a crazy sickening tone, look at the Hughes and Kettner Warp X... It's deadly!

Up the shut fuck, you must.

Okay, InTheRavensName has reminded me just how interested in an ENGL Fireball I really am. It's about the same price as the Peavey JSX and I've heard nothing but good things about them. There aren't any dealers up here, so I'm considering just ordering one from their USA site. But is it worth the risk to order it without playing one firsthand?

Is it just me or should companies let you try something for 30 days or something before you buy it? I know they do that for a lot of stuff, so why not fuck-expensive amps?

Yeah that would be great. Ah man! I need some help with this one. I'm seriously extremely close to just making the purchase on the ENGL, but I don't want to regret spending $1200.
