![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The Demonizer. It owns. So I sold the PODxt, and got the Demonizer, against my better judgement. Well, despite it being a little noisy compared to the XT, and being far less versatile, the overall tone of it is a lot more life-like and warm. Tube-like.....because it has two tubes. I am not sure it's worthy of the name "Demonizer" though. While it has enough gain on tap for me, it definitely won't do over the top 5150 type gain. But like I said, it's fine for me. Just as an example, I never ran the gain over 1 O' clock on any of the high gain amp models on the POD, yet this thing I run dimed 95% of the time. The cool thing is that it doesn't mud out at that setting; note definition is quite good. The only thing that sucks is the hum. Ugh! The hum is irritating. But it's worth the price paid for the tone. I might still swap my current Tascam US-122 for a Line6 UX2 as an audio interface, because then I'd still have access to all the XT tones (particularly the clean tones) and have the best of both worlds. The cleans on this are so far okay, but I admit I haven't spent as much time tweaking it for cleans as I have for high gain tones. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It is good to hear you like the Pedal. As much as I use them I never use them infront of an amp for the simple reason it has too much his/gain at the same time. I use the "womanizer" & "Demonizer" both for different reasons But here are a few things to help you with tone support. always run a Gate after the Preamp... My chain is for recording...direct to computer. DOD 308-->"Demonizer"-->I.S.P. Decimator pedal--> Palmer PDI -->mac sound card. and remember when the Eq's and Tone shaping knobbs are at 12oclock they are dead 0...1o clock would be + and 11o clock would be -.I have tried so many tubes in the preamps it is not fully and i will tell you I use Mullard red tip's in the "demonizers" preamp stage and The orginal EH's in the Nuclear..On the "womanizer" I use the soldano "Hot Mod" in the preamp stage and EH's in the Boost... I have never really Jumped up and down happy with the direct output but it does have it's good point...so you might wanna experiment with the outputs too. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks Jerich, I was thinking a Decimator would be nice to run after it. It kinda inspired me to write a new riff when I was fucking with it yesterday, and it's a lot of start/stop staccato playing. It'd be nice to have total silence in between notes. With the amp I'm getting, I wouldn't use it as a pedal anyway, as the tone from the Demonizer and this particular amp is pretty redundant. They sound so similar that it'd be like sticking a POD on the recto patch into the front of a real Mesa recto. No point really. I really bought it for it's recording capability, of which I think it'll do well. Next up is a Decimator and an LCD monitor! |
