I don't think Traynors are very widely available in the USA. Even here, they're primarily found in Long & McQuade stores (since L&M owns Yorkville Sound/Traynor).

The YCV50 definitely spanks most amps in its price category. But the last one i tried (actually rented it for a month) didn't stay very clean when i pushed it. It probably could have used some new tubes. I think the YCV50 is the best model hands-down out of the entire Custom Valve series.

they're hard to find in the states? well doesnt that just suck! my YCV80 stays incredibly clean with my neck and both pickups, but once its my bridge, i turn down the guitar volume to keep it clean. i like the flexibility of the 80, but i think that the fiddy is the most "you want metal? hit me!" amp they've got.

i thought traynors were widely available..hm. ah well, traynor hunt! i have yet to hear an amp under $800 that can take a YCV (yeah i love 'em)

3 cheers for free gear!

Maybe it's not that they're hard to find but more like they're not really top-of-mind. Musiciansfriend seems pretty well stocked with the whole Custom Valve series. I definitely agree that the YCV50 is probably one of the best bang-for-the-buck tube combos out there. I found it to be quite similar to a Mesa F-30 in a lot of ways.

Ever played a F-30? Admittedly, I've never layed a Trayner, but I'd be SHOCKED if it had the same sort of gain as the F-30 does. That was a seriously good sounding amp, and since they've been discontinued just got fairly affordable, if you can find someone selling one.

oh im willing to bet that the F-30 will sound better..the question is how much better, considering it was 500$ more when it was in production. that is short for i've played a YCV50 once, looked at an F30 twice, and own a YCV80. i like mesa tone as much as the next guy, but i can plug into my YCV80 and not be like "damn i still need a dual recto" etc. but then there are those days where if it doesnt say "5150" or "dual rec" you wonder why you bought it haha
