![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I just ordered some line 6 speakers i just ordered a pair of line 6 12 inch speakers, they are 8 ohms each and i know that you can effect the ohm rating of course if you wire them differently, (series\parallel) , but how is the wattage split? when you have 2 12's in series with say 50 watts going into them, do each speaker receive 25 watts? same question but with parallel wiring, i dont wanna blow a new speaker with too much juice |

So, if you have your two 8ohm speakers in series, you will be presenting a 16ohm load to the amp. In parallel, you will present an 8ohm load. Since the impedance is the same with both speakers, both will receive roughly 25w RMS. Amps are rated in RMS, or average, wattage, while speakers are rated in peak wattage. All this aside, if Line6 recommended the speaker for your particular application (are you replacing old speakers with the same model?), you are completely safe. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i'm not replacing, i'm filling an empty ampeg cabinet , i know about the impedance, its just that i have a 300 watt per 2 channel power amp, i'm gonna run one of the 300 watt sides to the 2 12's, i know i'l blow them (they hold 80 watts each) if i crank it of course, but i just didnt know how the wattage is divided, so if i put 50 watts into the 2 12's, reguardless of parallel or series wiring, each speaker will brunt 25 watts each? is that correct? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | parallel would make 4 ohms my good man but you're right about the power being split up evenly between the speakers. 25 watts each give or take a few. |
