picked this up today at GC (along with the Squier Strat VII and amp stand). first impressions? it's going back

it's a dual-distortion type thing. a top channel, which is rich in highs, and a bottom channel, funny enough, rich in low end. the top side was the most useable, as it was pretty crisp and tight, but it really lacked that ballsy bottom end for a full, chunky tone. the bottom channel was a flubby mess. think Big Muff Pi (Russian model)... fuzzy, undefined tone robber. not even the 'focus' control could breath life into it.

i A/B'ed this with my Boss DS-1 into my Sovtek Mig 100H. the used, $40 DS-1 won hands down over the on-sale $80 MXR deal. it had all the bite and bottom end that the MXR had so specially split up.

it was a fun little experiment, but i don't think it's good enough to remain in my stable of gear. plus, i can get a full refund, and will!
