Laney VH100R help

I'm having some problems with my Laney. On the gain channel, whenever I turn the drive setting past about 1.5 I get a horrible screaching that comes through. Doesn't sound like feedback but it's pretty awful. I changed the tubes once and I'm still having this problem. If I turn the drive setting off, everything's fine. If anyone has any suggestions before I take it to a tech, I'd really appreciate it.

possibly microphonic pickups?

It's not really that kind of noise. I've tried it with 3 guitars and it's the same thing every time. Also happens when I don't have a guitar plugged in.

did you change all the tubes? there's a lot in there... V1 is the most relevant, it's position is in the manual. If it's not the tubes then it must be a problematic component - take it to a tech
