Shipping Guitars

I am shipping 3 guitars in hardshell cases, and then boxed with Uline boxes made for guitars. I am shipping them ground, FedEx.

Should I do anything special? These are my guitars (one of them being the 7 string) so I want to take extra special care.

Any recommendations?

kman is on a distinguished road
Make sure you get insurance on your guitars. My brother bought a pair of headphenes off a guy and when they arrived they were destroyed(looked like a car ran them over). The seller didnt insure the headphones so he was out 300$ and a brand new pair of headphones.

I use boxes with a bit of overhang on the ends, about 4 inches. I stuff newspaper or bubble wrap in then. If they are goning to slam the box down, chances are it will be on it's end.

( I worked at RPS for a while a few years ago)

Yeah I was going to pack them really really well, but I meant as far as anything to the guitar in particular, such as detuning slightly, or whatever. Anything like that?

Unless your shipping to somewhere very cold- I wouldn't worry about anything else..

new plans: my parents are springing for them to be shipped FedEx Saver (by air, 3 day) to avoid sitting in a truck. They won't be shipped somewhere cold, but definitely more humid. Does that change anything?

Not really as far as shipping goes but i would think they'll probably need a good set-up (maybe a truss-rod tweak)when they get there if the humidity is that different.

Are you moving to a different country or something ?
