Filing JazzIIIs

I was wondering, has anybody else ever filed the non-XL JazzIIIs, so that they're not that pointy? My teacher told me that his students and he do that sometimes to reduce the picking sound of the jazzIII when recording stuff.

half the reason for using a J3 is the fact that it is pointy

You've got your head down
You've got your eyes closed
You look so pitiful now

Your body encrusted with ash
Breath heavy with toxins
Hair singed and matted
Clothes frayed and burnt

You are left with nothing

Well, the pointy tip wears down fairly quick from regular use, so that's probably a better way to go about it

EDIT: And what OzzyC said.

Get the Jazz IIs or Jazz Is, they get less pointy the lower the number.

ScareRaven is on a distinguished road
The Stubby J3's wear down quickly and I suppose you wouldn't get the same kind of 'click' from these stubby's... If the click is what you're wanting to reduce. Stubby's also glide over the strings a bit easier, but they definitely have a different feeling than the traditional J3's. Give one of those a try. You might find what you're looking for!

I use the red 1.0mm Stubby a lot, and it's great for not getting the 'clack clack' sound that the Jazz III gets. Even brand new, though, the Stubbies aren't quite as pointy as the Jazz III.
