Peavey JSX

yeah it's not the 6505 or the triple X, but thats the point!

has anyone else checked this beast out? i have the first version w/ 2 inputs, less gain and less "satch vibe" as i call it, on the low gain input. but that dont mean it's not a high gain beast!

this amp's clean channel isnt as nice as my YCV80's, but i didnt expect it to be. still quite useable with the neck pickup on my LP though.

the dirt channels are sweet, i love the ultra channel for leads. resonance knob is useful for massive low end if you're sitting at home rockin' out.

thoughts?

btw i play through peavey triple X cabs - pretty damn good imo.

Try the JP "inner coils" center position on the clean channel, it's plenty clean.

I like this amp, this is one of the few multi-channel regular tube amp heads that I've really admired since the Boogie Mark IV.

Every single channel is useful, & sounds great, not something I could say about the 5150/6505, any of the Marshall's, or most of the others, hence, the main reason I went rack ala ADA so many years ago, then Johnson Millenium, then Line 6.

If I were to use one standalone amp & a few pedals, it would be the JSX.

If I had an amp for each use:
I'd have a Diezel VH4 for leads/Rythyms
Engl Powerball for dedicated Rythyms
Roland JC120 and/or Fender Super Twin Reverb for cleans.

Various pedals and/or rack gear:
Eventide Eclipse
TC Electronic 2290
ADA Flanger pedal
Others...

Yeah the JSX is a very nice amp I actually came very close to buying one before going with the 6505. One thing I definately noticed is the insame amount of sustain the amp has. Not sure exactly which channel I was playing it on but man I could just hold onto notes forever it seemed....but the power of the 6505 drew me in. I listened to someone jamming out on one today at the music store and man the JSX still has some vicious sounding distortion I must say.

I actually really dig it... It just seems like an all-around better amp than the XXX.

I wish they made a 1x12 combo, though .

I'd love to get my hands on a JSX myself but I can't afford it.

Yeah I think the JSX would be the perfect choice for me as a second amp to go with my 6505....but like others here I'm broke. and it's not something I really need but just want.

While it is a great amp, I think the price difference between it and the XXX used is enough to go with the XXX.
