The top guitar reliability
I seen a really nice knockoff rickenbacker bass on thetopguitar.com. I can obviously tell its Chinese and a deffinate knockoff. But I was wondering how reliable is this site. I really want a rickenbacker but the way I work and bills I have I would never be able to afford a real one. Any help would be great. I need to know if my money is going to be safe with this company or if it's a scam.

If you want a Rickenbacker then a knockoff won't fill that need. You should only concider it if want something that looks like one, a huge difference from wanting one.

Please don't spend 400-500 dollars on a knock off guitar
. If that's your price range then buy a cheaper guitar you like the feel of and upgrade the pickups/ hardware or save up for a high quality instrument. I know its about the shape but I don't think its worth it man. The woods the body and neck are made from are probably comparable to drift wood lololol. My friend bought a Jem copy from a chinese site once and it looked exactly like one.... from 5 feet away. The moment you touch it you immediately felt gross, the quality of everything was so bad that it was barely playable. Everything from fret leveling to the wood quality to the inlay to bridge/tuners (thing was impossible to stay in tune and intonate) screams knockoff. Not to mention the pickups were howling and feedbacking the moment you plugged into the clean channel of the amp. He got it for like 150 bucks so he didn't care, but I would have even paid that for it. This picture alone should show you the "quality" of these chinese knock off makers http://thetopguitars.com/productimag...urrent_image=4 The scalloping alone is enough to make me cringe. - This is from top guitar btw |
