Zoom stuff is way cheaper than other companies like Boss or Digitech, so .. you might wanna invest into something that's more reliable. Also, isn't the GFX-8 an old unit? My ![]() Some toughts about the Zoom products in this thread : Compact and cheap Multi-FX pedal? The Dark Wolf is pretty much the man regarding multi-fx units... I owned one of their multieffects (the 4040 or 8080, can't remember) and it didn't sound great, was plastic, and it and the adaptor just dies after a couple of gigs with it. In fact, anything plastic for live use is a waste of money and false economy, you really do get what you pay for. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I had a zoom 707 i think...at one stage. yeh it was plastic...but! It did the trick considering the price and didn't sound all that bad to me. Lots and lots of effects to use and tweak with! Its not boss or digitech! but it really ain't all that bad ![]() http://www.myspace.com/korbainmusic (i need friends coz i just created it) haha |

![]() | I had one for several years and only sold it to get some new gear. The effects on it are pretty decent. Nice modulations and delays. The biggest issue I had was that the gain section of it just didn't do it for me at all. I'm into hi-gain sounds and although this unit might be more appropriate for clean/mid-gain settings, the hi ones were either thin or harsh. That was easily fixed with the effects loop so you could pop in an Uber Metal or something similar. At present I'm using the Pod XT Live and without a doubt it KILLS the GFX-8, but also, the GFX-8 was made 6 or 7 years ago and now can be bought for probably less than $200. If you're just looking for a simple multi-fx unit it's great. If you're looking for something more in a modeler/ mfx unit, you might want to look into possibly one of the Boss GT-6 or 8's, a Zoom G-7t or 9.2 tt, or a Pod XT/XT Live.
