hello, im offered a marshall 3315 head. Does anybody know if these heads are good?

Solid state Marshall (other than Valvestate) is not recommended from what I've gathered over the years. Try it first, and try it loud. The difference between a good SS amp and a bad one, is if it turns into a chainsaw once you get it up to band practice volume.

The only good SS Marshalls are the Lead Mosfet 100 (3210, pretty much a solid state Jcm800), valvestates (8100, 8200, vs100), and maybe the Modefours. Anything else, avoid.

Actually, I just looked at the schematic for the 3315. That's the head version of the Marshall 5150 combo.
I'll wager it sounds pretty rippin', if its in proper working order. At least give a play through. Looks like the only YT vid. Not the greatest demo...but you can get the gist of it. |
