A way to get a British and American Overdrive crossover done right?
Iv been looking for a certain tone that is the combination of a modern American overdrive, with the snarl of british distortion. similar to Daron Malakian from system of a downs 99-03 tone. thats the only guitarist i can compare it to.
Simple question but i havent been able to find any place that helps or equipment besides effects processors that can get it(but they sound digital and ehh at best imo) help.................PLEASE |

His tone is pretty damn hard to nail. First album was a Dual Rectifier and I BELIEVE a Carvin SX300. Second album was god knows how many amplifiers... Main tone was a 2CH Dual or Triple Recto boosted by a MT-2.

lol, a ....ing mt-2.
i have one, but only use it t add a little mud, just a little, to my sound. other than that i cant stand it. once u go past 12oclack with the gain. straight chainsaw until i turn my amp up. I was thinking using a Hao rust driver as a boost(sort of) to layer more snarl over a already aggresive tone. but keep gain down. and let the ped do the high gain work. that.....pedal.............owns |

I said to boost, not to use as a gain stage. He probably put it in front of the amp to shape the sound with the gain at 0.
Kirk Windstein did the same thing. |

Egnater Renegade Tube Mix. Works pretty well for me finding a balance between the american and brit sounds.

Question, if youre 6V6 tubes are shot for example, can you keep using it with the knob set all the way to EL84's and use the amp just fine without the 6V6's? Will you get issues if the knob is even just a TINY BIT away from the maximum EL84 setting?
