NHSD: Randall RH150G3+ head and Randall RA412XC cab

Here's my new Randall RH150G3+ halfstack. Thanks for all the help that I got from other users in this forum towards purchasing this amp. It sounds beastly considering it's a hybrid amp (solid state preamp and tube poweramp) .
The clean sounds were good if not great.
The overdrive channel got 2 brutal gain channels that sounds monstrous.
The midi footswitch that came with it is very useful (channel switching, gain 1/2 switching, clean boost and reverb/effects). It could have been more useful if they added a gain boost.

Nice grab I miss my T2 but I had to sell it off to fund a bass rig.

Thanks guys! Your knowledge about this amp really helped me. This amp will serve me for now until I get my all tube 6505, a Mesa Dual Rec or an ENGL Powerball next year or maybe an Axe Fx perhaps?

Great purchase man Gigged with one once, it certainly is great!

Btw... you got it the wrong way, it's a tube preamp and a SS power amp. No way it's that one tube doing 150 watts

Actually, the only tube in the amp is a 12AT7 in the power section. Not sure what it does, but whatever it is, I like it.

I know.

Randall, for some reason, put it in the output section. Read about it.

Yeah think of these G3 heads as the amps between the G2 RH series and the V2's. You get a mosfet power section, with that preamp tube buffer, and the solid state pre. Quite similar to the V2's solid state channel but at a different power wattage.

The tube is in the power section. I used to have an RH150G3 head and is said all over the manual it was in the power section. the tube is in the power section to give somewhat of a tube feel and character to the sound.

Kinda like using a Tube mic preamp to warm up your tone on a recording

I think it's the PI.

Common myth about all tube amps. People think its the big output tubes they are hearing when they turn their amps up. That touch sensitivity and roaring breakup is usually the PI.

I think Randall tried doing this here. Taking an often over looked, but essential part of a tube amp, and employing into their hybrid design.

Or what ever Randall did, those line of amps sound great.
