Eminence Speakers

Hello all

,

I must say that I do not frequent this website as much as I should

but meh... Okay, Here is my problem. My cabinet (Marshall 1960A) is somewhat lacking in the speaker department, and I was considering either-

A) replacing the speakers with some Eminence speakers (If I did it would be with blackpowders, but I am open to suggestions)

B) Buy a Vader 4x12

C) Buying an Avatar custom 4x12 and putting in some Emince speakers (again most likely Blackpowders, but am open to suggestions)

I play anything from shred to deathgrind, all help will be greatly appreciated!

money is not really an obstacel, unless its $700+.

What problem are you having with the speakers in there already? Which model Celestions are they?

What kind of amp/setup are you using?

Eminence Swamp Thangs reportedly CRUSH for 7-strings. I'm looking at Eminence Modelling 12s myself, as they are designed to be used with amp modellers.

Get a fuckin Vader. I've never played one, but I heard that for heavy music/sevens they slay almost anything else. The guy that started the company created them because he wasn't getting enough thump out of the recto cabinets he was using with his Triple rec....that should say something. They use Eminence Legends, and I heard that those are sort of a hybrid between the Tonker and Swamp thangs. hope that'll help ya.

The legends are kind of bland in comparison to other guitar speakers to be perfectly honest, they're pretty much PA speakers tuned a bit for guitar applications.

The problem with the speakers is, they just don't sound right for how I play for some reason. I play in drop A, so I need some speakers that are insane you know? My setup up is a 6505+ through a Marshall 1960A, thats it, no effects, no gates or anything.

I am thinking about the Vader, but its gonna take me awhile to wrangle up that cash (because I'm broke)

They've made the 1960A for about a million years, and put different speakers in it as well. What vintage of 1960 A do you have ? Does it have a small badge on the front that denotes series? What is the rated wattage?

I believe that the speakers are v30s, but it is 300 watts, and, I dont have it with me, so I cannot be sure.

if its 300 watts im very sure it CANT be V30s

V30s are 60 watts each which would make for a 240 watts cab.....
unless you use 5 speakers/cab
