+1. From what I saw, he really liked his ESP Eclipse, FX, and Horizons.

Good product demos... he must be endorsed by Andertons because he does a lot of videos for them. Seems like a cool guy. He has a signature Chappers guitar that seems to have flopped. Fans got to email in their recommendations and requests and the idea was to have a guitar designed by fans for fans.

Was the Chappers guitar the reason ESP canned him?

Flopped? How? They aren't even on sale yet...

I think the ESP issues were much earlier than when his guitar company started to take form.

If I'm right, he discontinued them so he can move production to Korea, right?

Back up. I think we're all talking about different things. There's Chapman Guitars, his company. They made the ML-1, Lost ML-1, and ML-2 guitars. those were pushed back a bit so he could move the factories to a different place. I think JUST ML-2 production was pushed back in favor of a better factory. These guitars are not his signature models, these are collaboratively designed production models, and they standard models from Chapman Guitars just like any other guitar from any other company, just manufactured in very limited runs.

His signature guitar as Marine mentioned is a Rob Chapman signature made by Chapman guitars. Confusing, I know. The Rob Chapman signature is not out yet, which is why I was saying it couldn't possibly be a flop.

Don't believe everything you hear.

It's all about the money - he's admitted as much to me on the phone when we were friendly....same reason he turned down Mayonnes or Matchless, and probably part of the reason he left Marshall (the other part being - at a guess - he's not big enough in their eyes to warrant a sig. amp......same reason he started his own guitar brand IMHO......ESP wouldn't give him a sig.)

Yes, we have some history.

Yes, I'm expecting Net Kids to neg me for my opinions.

No, anyone who sees fit to comment on my point of view is almost certainly not in possession of the facts, or has the history with Rob that I have.

Flaming - commence.

He didn't start his own brand because ESP wouldn't give him a sig. He started his own brand in what was essentially an accident. A different company offered him a sig (Gould) that was completely separate to his ESP deal, and then they ended up giving him the company to run as Chapman guitars (that would be the accident part, it wasn't the initial intention).

Calm down, we get it. You don't like the guy. Have fun with that.

If you want the facts of my history with Rob - feel free to PM me.

I don't like the guy but I'm not airing dirty laundry in public - suffice to say that I see a lot of naivety.

Believe what you want.

There's a hidden section on the Monkey Lord forum for long-term users/mods and a LOT Of shit was discussed there that wasn't public knowledge. I'm not going to kiss and tell (except insomuch as his direct relationship with me) but I'm not the sort of person to leap to conclusions for the sake of a bandwagon.

Jaden made the prototypes and offered a .sig guitar for a while, with all due respect to Jaden I don't see Rob "Bigging up" the guy like he used to. Thankfully Jaden has no need of that

You either want the facts of the incidents vis a vis Rob and I or you don't - however I refuse to indulge in gossip and idle speculation and I'm confident in my conclusions based on those incidents alone.

I have to admit I think you're naive but I respect the fact that you're sticking to your opinion....this is the internet after all

(The amp itself sounds good and I admit I was 100% behind the specs of his guitars - no problems whatsoever with the actual products)

I'm not being naive at all. Not wanting to hear what you claim is "the truth", which it very well could be, isn't being naive, it's choosing not to be a part of gossip. I am well aware of the possibility that there is a negative side to Rob and/or his business, but the same goes for every human being.

Put it this way: You have two friends, they don't get along but you're friends with both of them. One of them comes up to you and goes "Ugh, I can't stand ____, do you know what they did?" I would personally say "Look, I don't want to hear it. That's my friend you're talking about. If you have an issue with them take it up with them, don't spread negativity around when it's not needed, and don't put me in the middle of it."

Call me naive if you want, but that's a rather ignorant statement on your part. If stuff happened, then I'm sorry to hear that. But don't be that guy.

Simply put, Davey, if you do what you have done (present a positive claim against someone or something) then people will expect evidence of this. If you don't give any evidence- and you haven't- then you have not met your burden of proof. If you have not met your burden of proof, then the only logical position is to assume the equivalent of an atheistic stance. We can't just believe what you say without evidence because would be staggeringly stupid and (dare I say it) naive of us.

Now, you may well be completely right, but unless you're willing to tell us why and give evidence of it (Anecdotal evidence doesn't count), then you can't have a prissy fit when everyone just brushes you off.

Prissy?

I couldn't really care less if you believe me or not - and all the empirical evidence has been deleted from the forum in question so unless you expect me to air private emails (which I won't) then you are toally within your rights to believe anything you wish and I'll continue to think....whatever it is I think of Rob and people who buy into his Virtual Empire.

That said, I can prove the majority of the events that happened between Rob and I as there's video evidence to support it, as well as (I believe) multiple forum posts from the period which are still extant - the only missing links (the "dirt" as it were) are indeed anecdotal because I'm not betraying confidences and ultimately I'm expressing an opinion, not launching a hate campaign.

Ask yourself one question however - if I was the top poster on that board until my departure and indeed, had the board club together to buy me a guitar to help cope with my clinical depression...

Why am I now banned?

I apologise if you thought I said you were being prissy, I just meant that I could see it eventually descending into something like that. Apologies for that misunderstanding.

Again, I'm not asking you to air private e-mails, I'm just saying that if you won't (and you're completely within your rights not to do so, and I agree with you completely) you should understand why people are hesitant to believe you. You might be 100% right, but we don't see the evidence for it right now. Apologies if you took that offensively, I didn't mean it to be, I was just trying to explain why some of us might not believe you and that you should just understand that.

Let's drop it eh? As I've said, the amp sounds great, the guitars.....well, I still fancy an ML2......Rob - I'm sure that if we spoke now we could probably bury any misunderstandings.
