![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | QUICK advice needed: H&K DuoTone For anyone that has ever had/tried one of these. How do they compare to a TriAmp MkII? A friend of mine from the local GC called me. He knows this crackhead who is looking to ditch a DuoTone Head and matching 4x12 cab with V30s for $900. Literally, a crackhead. He's banned from going to that GC, so he can't ask him to bring it up there to test out first. He's currently got a 5150 and he's thinking if the DuoTone is close to the TriAmp, he'd get rid of the 5150 for it. But the question is, does it do modern metal?? ![]() Metal... Nuff Said!! Have him go over to the guy's place and fire it up, and as long as it doesn't blow up on him it's probably a save investment. You figure if he buys it and after a week of fiddling he's still not happy with it, if he just craig's lists it, he'll probably come out ahead. I don't know why, I just think it's funny! 7StringofAblicK-This is my footswitch. it changes channels on my amp - just like on a television, but I only have four channels. http://www.mnemic.com/board/images/smilies/sam666.gif http://www.myspace.com/psyclosis Psyclosis page http://www.myspace.com/texamanian My page |

No matter how good the amp may be, if he's too uneasy about the seller to go demo the thing, that alone should tell you something. | |

![]() ![]() | Channel 3a of the triamp mkII is apparently identical to the duotones dirty channel. I own a triamp mkII. While I prefer channel 3b for metal, 3a will definatly do it. Keep in mind that these amps like to be played loud, and your bass actually increases when you turn the volume up. They sound sterile at bedroom or even house levels. I own a bogner XTC101B and a mesa dual recto, and the triamp is my favorite, if that gives you any idea. The duotone is a handbuilt amp as well and very nice. For 900 bones you can't go wrong, the cab alone is worth that. -W |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I wouldn't give the guy the money for it, out of principle. I wouldn't want to indirectly support someone else's crack habit. But that's me. Plus, I wouldn't want to buy it because you never know if it was obtained questionably in the first place, and if someone will come looking for it. There's a lot of paranoid things that would run through my head dealing with a guy like that, and I would just avoid it. Plus I've heard the Duotone is nothing like the Triamp. |
