Mako Amps
couldnt find a thread already so i decided to make one.
after hearing some amazing clips of the dorado and the cusotm 100 i naturally started GASing for one, then i went to the site and saw they are all built by one guy, and meticulously so (he even builds the fucking transformers!) then they are tough as balls (aluminium balls), and to top it off they are very well priced. I really think the mako custom 100 will be my next amp, cuz the mak 4 will probably be out of my price range (even though its oh so sweet...) Have any of you ever played one or heard one in person? What did you think? Have you heard any good or bad things about these amps? |

They look pretty solid and sounds pretty cool as well. They are however a bit expensive, but that's what you have to pay for a custom amp.

Mako Amps? That reminds me Final Fantasy VII, Maybe with them we can insert materia balls in our guitars and summon Jimmy Hendrix or whatever

I know I was thinking the same think. I checked out the philosophy page hoping he said that's the origin of the name, but sadly it's because of Mako Sharks....
Oh well, sharks are cool, I guess. |

Gee the MAK 4 looks like a nice plug and play little amp with its 4 channels, 5 loops, 9 preamp tubes. 13 button footswitch. If people are confused by the Mesa Road King this ought to drive them over the edge.

i dont know about it being overpriced, it sounds awesome and according to most is in the vein of bogners soundwise, it can go from uber bite to xtc midrange and both or none etc. and it costs less than an uber too. And then the clean is supposed to be phenomenal, warm and fendery which is VERY rare on a high gain amp, the uber has a shit clean. I really want to try this out dammit!!
haha thats the first thing i thought too, he should call his next amp the "Mako Reactor"! Last edited by bulb; 11-30-2006 at 02:28 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |
