![]() | Poweramps and a Rookie Hey Everybody, i have a question that i hope some of yous could kindly answer. I just picked up a Carvin SX300h amp head (100w).....but i also have a Madison Solace 4x12 cab that is capable of handling DOUBLE of what the Carvin puts out. Is there any way to juice my signal from the Carvin head so that the Madison cab runs at it's real potential? I have this preoccupation that if i stick a power amp in the signal path, it'll amp up the signal and run the cab right. IN GENERAL, is this plausible? (i saw this guy post a review on a power amp saying he ran his bass head through one to give his cab some nuts, but i'm just a rookie....i know nothing.) Any help would be SUPREMELY appreciated! Thanks. ( Justin ) |

If you drive them to their max capacity they will breakup horribly and turn your tone to mush. Do keep in mind that tube poweramps often push up to double what they're rated at. I'd leave your amp and cabinet as they are. |

You can use your head to power a power amp, but you have to run off an line out or the effects send of your effects loop. The only proof he needed for the existance of God was music. ![]() | Thanks for the info...Yeah, i figured 100 watts is plenty for club gigs, etc. I just needed to know if it was possible to perform this sorta thing. Thanks mucho, bro. ( Justin ) |

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways, we could reverse the particle flow through the gate. We'll cross the streams. |
