![]() ![]() | Sevenstring MIDI pickup? Do they exist? I fell in love with the sounds from a GR30, but GK2A pickups only seem to fit 6 strings. What are the options for 7's? Trust your ears. In life and music, what is is but that doesn't always mean it's what it should. Change, is in our hands. |

![]() | None as far as i know. The thing is that 16 pin systems as the GR30 are soley developed for 6 strings. The only way to add more strings is to double the system. That's wat tapping guitar guys do, they drive two units. just my 2 cents. |

The problem isn't so much the pickup: All of the guitar-to-MIDI converters are only designed for six strings. So even if you get a seven-string pickup, you need to figure out how to translate all seven strings into MIDI signals. One option might be to tune your seventh string to A and have it just track in parallel to the fifth string. |

![]() | Just use the 6 string version. I have bought a GR20 with the GK3 pickup recently. Here's a fact about the system: during the pickup installation, I placed the pickup the wrong way vertically, i.e. the yoke (the pole pieces) that is supposed to track the 1st string was tracking the 6th string, and the one that is supposed to track the 6th stirng was tracking the 1st string. I placed it the wrong way, because I thought that the cable from the pickup to the remote unit and the extended part of the pickup with a screw would get in the way. Anyway, I tried it that way, and the tracking was all over the place. I reversed the pickup (installing it correctly), and the tracking was fine. |

It's a hexaphonic pickup, and the system expects the first sensor to be picking up the first string, not the sixth. You can't just arbitrarily flip it around. RTFM! ![]() |
