Two days ago I went over to my old drummer from Omichron's house as those deceptive bastards kicked him out of the band too and neither of us have done anything since.

My daughter is grown a bit and when my wife's off work I finally have time to do the band thing again.

Last time I jammed with him I had the Madison Divinity and MF-207, he hadn't even seen my recto and UV setup.

So, I plug in, fire it up, and FUUUUUK did it sound massive! Here's my setup:

UV (X2N/D-Sonic)...ISP Decimator...Keeley modded Metal Zone...Racktifier.

My drummer said, "HOLY SHIT THAT SOUNDS GOOD!" as soon as I hit the first note after taking the amp off standby.

All the, "t3h rekt0 r t3h sUk nd r t3h l00s3 nd mudZ0RZ" can now shut the fuck up. We were playing everything from Meshuggah-esq riffs to Necrophagist-esq fast/technical riffage and the recto handled all of it with ease! Very tight, clear, and percussive sounding and it cut through like a chainsaw. No mud.

Only complaint: We were playing Roswell 47 by Hypocrisy and when I let me low B string ring out while playing the higher parts it overpowered everything else. The b string compressed shortly after I hit the note and the higher notes I was playing over it didn't really shine through till the b-string faded off a bit. Can any of you guys think of a fix for that? I suspect the V30 speaker breakup may be the culprit but I'm not sure. I can't wait to get rid of those.

Overall this is the best tone I've ever had in 14 years of playing with bands. I did a lot of knob tweaking as his concrete basement sounds a lot different than my plaster room with hardwood floors But once I got it... I GOT IT! I can't wait to go back.

We're officially forming a full-time band again btw.

sounds awesome...wasn't there a thread a while back about the differences between the older recs and the newer 3 channel ones? like the board was different in the newer ones and it was voiced more for new metal? (I suppose I could do a search, but I'm hungover, at work, oh, and lazy too)

Excellent - it's always good to see someone getting back into a band.

The people who complain about Rectos being muddy need to learn to use EQ, and to listen to what the band's doing, from a frequency standpoint. You'll be just fine with yours, I'm sure...

It's a favorite cover of ours. The drummer and I love the song so much that everybody else got tired of playing it. Now that those douches are gone... it's on! I think we played it 3 times the other day just for fun. Our other covers are Benedictine Convulsions by Cryptopsy and Raining Blood (double timed with death metal vox). Hypocrisy is NOTHING like our style but I love playing it!

need to get rid of their V30s. Seriously, I'm starting to think half of the muddy argument is coming from guys rolling back the treble and presence in an effort to kill the harsh upper mid attack of the V30. Standardizing on that speaker is the dumbest thing Mesa has done in recent years.

I was think about this, because our buddy Todd called me the other night to let me know he got a Rectoverb halfstack off of E-bay. It took me a minute to learn this, because the conversation started like this:

"Hello?"

"That's it, I'm fucking done with Vintage 30s."

anything faster is amazingly awesome. Benedictine Convulsions rule... i used to cover Roswell back when i was trying to get a band together a couple of years ago, before the drummer moved to California on us We didnt have 7s, so we tuned to D and did it with thrash vocals. i wanted to play everything faster, the drummer wanted ... MEDIUM PACE! So i took the lead whenever i could. when we played creeping death, i totally sped up the rhythm guitar part right after the intro (where its just 1 guitar) so everyone had to join back in with me at the tempo i was playing at... the drummer played it at album speed, i played it a little bit faster than the 'live shit' version.
