Mills acoustics

I dont really know a good way to put this and i dont want to bash anyone but I need to know has anyone had any experience with Dave Mills and Mills acoustics?

I ordered a 4x12 afterburner from him 10 months ago and I still have not recieved it. I have spoke with him probably 30 times and have sent atleast as many if not more emails back and forth with him and I still have not recieved my cabinet.

He seems like a very nice man but I sent him $1100 dollars via money order (as that is his ordering policy) 10 months ago and still nothing. His production schedule is supposed to be 8-12 weeks. I wouldnt even believe this company existed at this point if the other guitar player in my band wasnt playing 1. He keeps giving me excuses and tells me he has had to return to a day job because of the economy. Keep in mind we talk about every week via phone and email like were best buds. So I have been for the last 3 weeks trying to get him to send me the cab unloaded because he says it is done and he cant afford to order speakers. (figuring at least Id get the cab and pray some day he'd make good on the speakers) but now he has pretty much stopped responding to me.

this has been eating at me for months but i didnt want to post anything about it trying not to hurt the mans reputation any, but at this point I have had it. At this point it seems I have just mailed $1100 dollars to a stranger for nothing . I still have my pinkies crossed that maybe all his troubles could be true and i will eventually see my cabinet but it seems pretty hopeless. let me know if u know anything about this man or this company and certaintly be wary if u dont.

sadly i'm in a similar situation with him, i'm kind of at the point where i've considered the TWO cabs i've ordered a ....ing loss, but i think he'll come through eventually, just not in any time that you or i will be happy with,

his monetary situation is dire, if you pm me i'll tell you more i suppose, i'd rather not air his dirties in forum form

but yeah i've lost a bunch of moneys too sadly

good luck to both of us really

i know he's slowly working on them though

i've talked to him on the phone several times

blows me away that someone could do this shit its like..250 bucks in materials tops...just finish the work people ordered and close the business...good luck guys

oni I dont really want to drag him through the mud persay. But i Have held on this for a while (6 months) and just wanted to reach out and see if I was alone in this endeavor. If there were really people out there with the cabs and what experiences they may have had in getting them.

This makes me glad that I decided to go with Emperor. Holy shit that sucks for you guys - you're definitely handling it with a little more class than I would, I'd be blowing up.

It wasn't nearly as long as your waiting, but I went through a similar situation when I ordered my head case for the ENGL Invader. Had it built through a company, which seemed good and the other guitarist in one of my bands had one made for him a few years back and loved it and the quality was great.

Same B.S. though....first they said it would be ready to ship in like 3-4 weeks. A month goes by and I hear nothing. Then he said it would be ready by end of the week after I emailed him. Then he said he would let me know how much shipping was. Never heard back a week later. Then it was oh "it's ready to ship" so I sent the rest of the money. Couple weeks go by "oh it shipped I'll get you a tracking number....blah blah blah blah.......just one line of B.S. after another. I finally got the thing, but it was like pulling teeth. It seems like a lot of these places are struggling and they are so willing to take your money to pay bills to get by, but it's practically fraud.

Just make sure you keep a big papertrail. Every email you send and confirmation of payments, so in case you have to take any legal action.

Lame...Dave Mills must be having a very tough time, as when I ordered my 3 Mills 4x12s a few years ago, the service was fast, and without a hickup.

No excuse, really, as the cabs are paid for, and that's enough to cover materials, but I'm sure he'll come even as soon as he can.

hmmmm its a sad state of affairs

i don't see anything to be gained by legal action if the guys broke then you still wont be getting anything.

best bet is to wait see if he can deliver and try to stay on good terms with him.
although i know you guys got every right to be annoyed

oni there may be hope!!! I recieved a shipping invoice from estes trucking for the cab this morning. although it is unloaded and i paid for loaded I am real glad to atleast get my very expensive speaker box hehe. Now I just pray it shows up undamaged

I would freak the hell out if I waited this long to get the cab unloaded, and not get at least reimbursed for what it would cost me to buy the speakers -- let alone get somebody to wire it up...

This is really a shame. In my opinion, Dave makes the best sounding cab I've come across. I'm far from a V30 fan, but I think they sound incredible in his afterburners. I hate hearing about smaller companies who specialize in making one very incredible piece of equipment getting destroyed by poor business decisions.

well I do have a IOU from Dave to reimburse me for the speakers so we'll see if that comes. I am just glad to have salvaged something from the transaction at this point. Better than having it be a total loss as I had pretty much begun to think.

i dabbled with the thought of getting tino the cab building business, and always thought aslong as you got the cash, bought the parts needed asap, and built the ....er and shipped it you would be fine, i wonder what went wrong

i am not sure what happened besides he explained to me several times how much financial trouble he was in, and had to return to a 40 hr. a week job. He was very pleasant and apologetic throughout the whole process. But you can only be so nice when you make someone pay up front and tell them they will have a cab in 8-12 weeks and you dont deliver in 10 months.

But 1 part of the puzzle is solved. after 10 months I finally recieved my mills cabinet today. Unfortunately I was so skeptical of the whole situation I didnt have enough balls to order speakers ahead of time so I ordered speakers today (Dave mills got me a real good deal through avatar). So hopefully next week I can play my $1500 dollar cab and pray that Mills stays true and re imburses me for my speakers when he is financially capable. Just glad its not a total loss at this point.

I ordered an afterburner 4X12 EVM with 12L's, that was Feb 22 2011, I have called and talked to Dave once, seems like a nice guy, $1759 is a lot of money, his customer service sucks, I don't want or need lame excuses anymore, I know the economy is bad, but my money is gone! He sent me an email saying the target date for shipping will be at the end of Jan...........That was last month.

that is right about when I ordered mine. I had to suck it up as I said in a couple posts above and just have him ship the cab unloaded (even though I paid for loaded) and buy my own speakers. He got me a real good deal through avatar on the speakers I basically had to buy twice. I figured atleast I would have a $1500.00 cab I could play than a $1100.00 receipt.
He says he is going to reimburse me but I am still skeptical.

I would say your best bet is to call and talk to him until you get your results. I hounded him like crazy for the last 2 mos. Or you find a ss.org member that lives near him that is willing to pay him a visit . hehehe.

Calling Dave and getting an answer is difficult, I leave a message and get nothing back, it takes 2 or 3 months to get a reply back by email, it just keeps adding up to negative feedback (for him). I will hang in there until it's completed, then I will decide if his cabs are worth all the hype and talk.

well i cant tell you what to do but my protocol became leaving him a message giving him 24 hours to respond and when that didnt happen I would call every day sometimes twice a day until he finally picked up or responded. I usually got in touch with him within a couple days.

The cab is great, but does it make up for all the bs that went in to getting it. I would say no

I'm on the "getting F'ed via Mills Train" too. I place my order in June 2011. Nothing but the run around now. A few lessons learned for me. Hes really putting his name through the shittah. Gonna be tough to maintain a reputable name after this. If he delivers. I'll keep my mouth shut. If he reopens without fulfilling my order.... Hes no more than an hours drive from my FL office in PB.

well i got my cab but he still owes me 400 bucks so let me know if u take the drive hehe. Im gonna have a logo made for it that says asshat acoustics or something if he doesnt cough it up soon. no free promo from me hehe.
