![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Roland Jazz Chorus - any way to "metalise" it? I'm told by a friend that if I act quickly I can pick up a Roland JC-77 for quite cheap. I'd love to buy it but I'd have to sell my Sunn to afford it at the moment so, if I was to buy it, would a decent stompbox or two be enough to get a suitably heavy tone out of the Roland? I've only ever heard of people A/B'ing the Jazz amps so I'm guessing it probably isn't really faesable. Thanks! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ideally that's what I'd do, but my only "real" amp is a Sunn Beta Lead, which I'll have to sell if I wanna be able to pay for the Roland. |

![]() ![]() | depends on what you want. if you are really intent on clean tones it might be worth it. but IMO you will be hard pressed to find a good heavy metal distortion out of it with any pedal you bring to it unless that is you are a fan of solid state distortion, then you may have something to work with ![]() "are there gonna be snacks? i heard there were gonna be snacks." |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Possibly a better idea.... Instead of buying the Roland, get a Line 6 Spider II with either 2-10's or 2-12, the cleans are based off the Roland Jazz Chorus, you'll have your choice of distortions, and its a much more versatile package IMO. Kepp in mind to that the 2-10, and the 2-12 do sound wildly different, so I would experiment to see what speaker coombiation works bet for you. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | the Spyder gains were, to my ears, the least organic of the Line6's I've played, however. If you want a JC clean with useable metal tones, then some sort of Line6 or another modeler isn't necessarily a bad idea, but I wouldn't use a Spyder for anything other than electronica/metal or nu-metal. Honestly, the JC's are great amps for crystal-clear cleans, but if you're working with distortion word is they don't take pedals well, so you're sacrificing what I assume is your primary tone for your secondary. Pass. "...and everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon." |

or do what i used to do when I owned a jc-55 Run a gt-6 into the front.. Actually I find this amp to be good for modellers cause it has a flatter response to it. So unless that SUNN is your *SOUND* I would say go for it. Just make sure you get fair market value out of the SUNN http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/gea...brand-new.html "I wish TV had a knob so you could turn up the intelligence.
