Thick tone needs...

all my gear was ganked from my ex... have to start over. i had a 5150 fja mod... loved the tone but it was horrible for just practing. looking for something like a 30-50 watt tube, i play grind, death, and black metal. looking for a thick meaty tone. something i can play in the bedroom and... on those drunken i dont care what the neighbors say... crank

any suggestions? budget? under $1000. more if i gotta get a cab. thanx

You could try one of those Blackstar HT-5 mini heads, they are 5 watts amps but they are good to play in the bedroom.

Morbid angel(where the slime live...7 string), suffocation, cock and ball torture, and carcass. Like I said... looking for a thick meaty tone with good sustain... harmonics... not get muddy with drop tune rhythm shreds.

Cool... never played one. Heard they can spit on some nasty crunch. What kind of cab are you using? I normally go the avatar route. Maybe a contemporary 2 12 cab with v30's?

yep i think an avatar 2 v30's would be pretty damn good

they do spit out some mother....in nasty crunch + they are really amazing for soloing, and at low volumes ENGL are known to sound really good

im usin a homemade cab with 2 v30's and another homemade cab with a single eminence 15'' when I play my seven for the extra bass punch

You running those two cabs in stereo? How do you have that rigged? What kind of eminence 15? Sounds ....ing awesome. It will handle all the deep lows and not get muddy? Oh... do you have any video or sound clips of this rig? Danny... one more. Using a boost?

Does everything the 5150 will do, tighter, better clean channel, and the hybrid power section allows you to get to bedroom levels and still have to amp sound its best and then turn it up to ear bleeding levels when you need it without worrying about headroom.

Really is the best of both worlds.

the 2 i've tried the pots were always ....ed up and was very sensitive. almost like disarming a bomb lol. when they were dialed in they sounded mean as ..... too bad their hard to find now

i had an old crate... cant remember the model. the amp looked identical from the back to the front... same knobs and pots. damn i wish i remembered the model number. i know the pots were shit. clean was pretty good and the distortion was decent. the cab was garbage. here's a video of me playing around with a distortion pedal on this amp.

Crate made a clone of the VH140C. Blue Voodoo, I think. I know what the hell it is, but I can't seem to remember exactly what it was called.

snap.... crate g600. was that the ampeg knock-off? if soo... decent amp but it needed a distortion pedal in front. from my understanding the ampeg didnt need shit. straight balls to the wall lol

Nah it's Revalver. I'm saying why invest money in an amp when you have a computer and speakers - get yourself a VST program, that way you can play it, practice with it, record with it etc.
