Should i lose the voodoo valve and get a gt pro?

Yeah i know - go out and listen to them both.....but the gt is so hard to try out - I knoe some nice tones can be had from it if i just had some time!!!!!

It depends on what you need. Do you need many sound? I personally would go with the Voodoo Valve preamp, because I have no faith at all in boss GT products when it comes to real amp sound.

If you want to know what a gt pro sounds like, go play with a gt-8. The only difference as far as I know are the outputs on the back.

POOF!

I don't know why people constantly say the GT series are hard to dial in tones. The presets aren't all that bad, and they give you a good sense of the range that's available. And just about everything tone-related can be tweaked on the front panel. It's only when you get into deeper programming and bizarre effects where you need to have your thinking cap on. And even then, it's pretty logical.

I had a gt-5 for years, and loved it, well built and good sounds from what i remember, but that is several iterations ago! I'd still consider getting another one.

See, to me, that the problem with the GT-8. When the GT-5 was released, it was hands down the best sounding modeller out there, with the gt-8 IMO the basic sounds aren't that much different (although the routing has been greatly improved...and this is not to say that it ever sucked, as routing for the GT/GX series has always been its string suit).

Since the gt5 came out in the MID 90's, the COSM technology IMO, has not improved. This is a problem.

By comparision, with Line 6, every generation of their modelling technology has sounded better than the previous.

The GT series > The Digitech and a bunch of the pod stuff, IMO.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

Yeah, you really need another preamp
What's it been so far? Pod 2.0, Pod XT, Sansamp PSA-1, Voodoo Valve, not to mention the modified 5150 from hell, and the custom Ratajczyk.....
