Recommend me a compact setup
I want a small setup to power the following:
- My 1U vocal rig - PMA-5 Right now I'm hoping that I can do it with a 4U SKB case. One slot for the power strip, one for a sliding drawer for the PMA-5 (palmpilot-style drum machine/midi sequencer), one for my vocal preamp. So basically, it looks like I either need a 1U power amp, or some kind of 2U unit that is a pre/processor/self-amplified. I can go to 6U if necessary, but really what I'd like is to be able to drop my vocal shit and my sequencer just about anywhere, plug it into a cab/board and go. Edit: Now that I think about it, 6U would probably be better, since I can run a patch panel for the mic outputs. So: ---------- Slot 1: Powerblock Slot 2: Vocal Rack Slot 3: Patch panel Slot 4: Drawer Slot 5: ? Slot 6: ? ----------- I can't really use just a 2U poweramp, because the PMA-5's output is RCA. I can make it 1/4" no problem, but I don't want to run it into a poweramp, because I'd need some kind of splitter to get it running at the same time as the Alesis Vocalthinger. Though I could probably do it with the patch panel, but that's a pain in the ass. ![]() * Chris is clearly thinking this up as I write this post. |

Are you after a power amp for just the vocal processor with the PMA-5 running to an external system or do you want to mix both together? If that's the case I'd suggest getting a small 4 channel mixer on that rack shelf and running it all into a solid state pa amp.

Hmm, I do have a smal 4 channel already actually. That's a damn good idea.

It makes sense that way as you can perfectly balance the vocal processor and PMA-5 in the mix.

Or you could get a 1U line mixer.
