Played a F-30 and F-100 today.
...and holy shit, I see what you guys are talking about.
Somehow I'd never gotten to play one of these things before, so when I met up with Jason to pick up a C7 Blackjack (which owns, but will get its own thread later once I get it set up and get some clips) down at a Guitar Center, he made a point of having me play through one. And damn, it may not have the staggering versatility of the Nomad, but it provides an absolutely phenominal tone, very close to how I try to set my Nomad. Anyone who claims you can't play metal on one of these things needs to have their head and/or ears examined - sure, I'm not the highest-gain player in the world, and we were playing them with Hellraisers and Blackjacks, two guitars with fairly hot pickups, but as far as I'm concerned by the time you got the gain over 5 you were just oversaturated - it was a thick, ballsy chunk with a warmer midrange but a lot of the same aggression of the Rectos. The clean channel rocked, too - it's just a damned good sounding amp. I was seriously impressed.

Told ya
Now you see why I had a million F-30 rants. The F-50 is really nice too. I think thats the best one, just cuz the 100w is a bit over the top.And yes, the Blackjack C7 is great... my fav Schecter ever. |

they can certainly get that metal crunch
![]() but not as sweetly as my Nomad ![]()
I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate. We'll cross the streams. |

I still stand by my claims. I would rather play a f series than a recto.

While I REALLY dug the Series II Road King I played (and I didn't even screw with the back panel options) I suspect I would too - $999 for a F-50 head vs $2699 for a RKII combo makes the decision a little easier.
Though, I gotta say, while I really was impressed by the F-series amps I played, I spent some more time with a Mark-IV and I finally managed to dial up a tight Recto-like crunch from the thing with a version of the V-scoop - as an added perk, disenguaging it for a middier lead tone also gave me a natural volume boost. I want one of those things so badly it's actually kind of embarrassing. |

The f series amaze me..killer crunch and bite AND almost fender like cleans..i can only imagine what they sound like clean with chorus and delay.

That's actually what impressed me the most - it's not quite as creamy as the Lone Star clean (one of the best I've ever played), but it's surprisingly rich for an amp who's other's channel can embarrass most of the Rectifiers I've played...
...not that I don't still want a Road King - some of the lower gain channels on that were also quite nice, and it seemed to handle lower volume better than most Rectos I've played. |

Put it this way guys Emg 707's have so much bite i was hitting squeals with the treble all the way down on the f-30. SO they both have tons of bite

The F-30 had the best clean tone of any amp I've owned - I miss it every now and again
