If you don't want to invest in whole re-tube(as you're going to flip it), change the preamp tubes one at a time. You can use a tube that you know works in another amp. Just keep the numbers the same. I wouldn't do this with the power tubes though...

Well, I took the amp back in, and they determined that it was something on the inside.

I could tell this was just a guess from them, but either way, they sent it to York to have it checked out.

I got it back yesterday and the repair tag that they sent back with it said that the popping was normal. So I take it home, and check if it is still popping, and it actually seems worse than before.

I don't know who checked it out, but I've owned a couple tube amps before, with no problems and no one here has told me this is normal, so im calling bullshit on it being normal.

Since they sent it to be repaired, and it came back in the same condition, and Nothing is working to fix it, im going to call the store tomorrow and tell them im returning it. I don't care if it only happens in the first minute of taking it out of standby, but that'd be extremely inconvenient in a live situation. Plus, it's annoying as hell.

POOF!

With my neck and middle pickup I got some pretty damn good tones. But the bridge pickup made it sound like ass. But the bridge pickup sucks through my j-station aswell. Since I only have one of my guitars here at the moment, I can't properly judge it.

man, that's one gorgeous Mark IV. you should definitely try to get it fixed again. IMO, it'll be worth it, even if you sell it off.

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

Well, before I was about to return it, I was going to post up a vid, showing the noise that the amp makes (since I dont have a mic of any kind) and it wouldn't make any noise.

That was quite embarassing to have on video, but I noticed, that I plugged the amp into a power bar this time with surge protection and all that jazz. So, i've come to find out, that the noise is actually caused by this ratty ass house I live in.

When I was at the music store taking it in for repair, I couldn't hear the same noise as at home. It was a drastic difference actually. At the store, I only heard one or two small pops, as opposed to the shit storm i'd hear at home. I thought this was because some Vanilla Ice wanna-be was screwin around on the DJ equipment so I couldn't hear anything.

So yeah, I guess it's working now.

Edit: Spoke too soon. NOW the foot controller won't switch the channels between rhythem 1,2, or lead, but it will turn the EQ on and off....

Well, I took it back. Easy fix in my opinion, but I didn't want to wait another few weeks, and have to pick it up again for like, the 4th time.

Plus I needed some extra cash from the refund for customs fees that I will surely be paying soon enough

So it's back to Drew's Johnson. Which I don't mind at all, because while the mesa was pretty pimpin, I need me some delay

Plus my roommates didn't appreciate teh toobe pwnage.!!1111!!r0x0r!!

That's pretty much the reason I don't have a tube amp either. My upstairs/downstairs neighbors are nice folks, but a dose of Mesa at 1AM might be a bit of a problem.

99% sure that the problem was the back-panel channel selector was switched to a "channel" position, and not a "footswitch" position.

Leon, he has my old J-Station.
