I'm interested in buying a camo Randall cab off of a friend of mine, and it looks pretty stellar. The only issue is that all of the speakers are BLOWN TO SHIT.

I was thinking of buying it anyways and just putting some new speakers in that sucka. I thought of two definite options: either some Celestion K-100's, or some good ol' greenbacks ('cause it's camo, you understand.) Just wonderin' what kinds of suggestions you guys would have as to what should go in there...I play thrash, death, black, industrial, you name it. I love the low end, and I need a cab to drop some bowels.

In your case, I'd definately avoid the Greenbacks. Great speaker for rock & blues, but they break up way too early for metal....especially 7-strings. G12T-75 are a pretty kick ass choice too.

No troubles really. I'm just getting informed. I'm entertaining the idea of adding an Avatar to add to my arsenal.

Indeed. I was lookin' around at prices for the K-100, and I saw the 8-ohm version for $100 a pop, so that's a little more than $400 for quite possibly one of the most potentially kickass cab setups I can think of. I can get the cab for cheap too, I hope. I was also looking into Marshall Mode Four cabs 'cause they have essentially the same setup, minus the Randall logo and camo.

Yeah, the Avatar's are lookin' pretty sexy as well. I might just go with a sweet 2x12 setup if it'd be cheaper. What kind of Avatar are you thinkin' of adding?

I personally like V30's over any other speaker - YMMV.

I've heard amazing things about the G12-Centuries, though.

Indeed they do. The one I'm tryin' to snatch is kinda messed up...luckily, the paint job is still intact (might have to get the goo-gone on the top 'cause it's doubling as a coaster at the moment), but I'm probably gonna have to replace the grill cloth 'cause someone painted purple letters on it.

Yeah, V30s are great for certain applications, but I find the midrange a bit harsh for the style I play & the tones I use. I prefer tons of focused low end, liquidy mids & singing highs. I tend to like speakers in excess of 100w with absolutely NO speaker breakup.

I was lookin' into the V30's for a while, but the problem with those is that I'm lookin' to get an amp that dishes out more than 120 watts, which I think is the allowance of a 4x12 V30 setup. Also, I gotta have that oh so sexy low-end with no breakup, somewhat liquidy mids and bright highs, and I'm probably not gonna get all that with the V30's...
