![]() | Conditioning your Rosewood Fretboard... Im just wondering what you all use to condition your rosewood fretboards? Ive always used dr.stringfellows lemon oil, never used anything else and I was told by someone that I shouldnt use lemon oil all the time, that I should use an actual fretboard conditioner? just wondering what u all use and your thoughts on using lemon oil. I also recently had to sand down and refinish my neck with tungoil because I had some spots where my clearcoat was chipped off on the back of my neck, I was told you shouldnt use lemon oil on Maple, and my neck is maple..... I had some of my neck wood turning greenish... was this because of my sweat getting into the wood fibers? or could that have been from lemon oil accidentally getting on my neck from when I cleaned my fretboard with it? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You know what? For years i've been using lemon oil to remove dirt, scrubbing like a bitch. Now, my friend gave a bottle of Pledge for natural wood surfaces (furniture polish) which: a)took of all the dirt within sseconds, including all the ashit that's noemally an absolute pain b)left the fretboard squeaky clean ready to absorb some lemon oil c)conditioned the fretboarsd anyway, and bought out thwe rich colour of the rosewood I am never going back to just lemon oil. ever. I mean, how obvious is it to use simple furniture polish as opposed to a whole host of expensive guitar products that effectively do the same thing, but without all the crap like having to really be carefull how much you use and whether you follow the instructions correctly. |

Also, using lemon oil after the pledge really does work well. In fact, the lemon oil is more effective after the pledge, some of my fretboards have developed lovely colours i've never seen before ![]() Last edited by 7 Dying Trees; 08-30-2006 at 08:13 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost | |
