so i was in a music shop today and heard one of these
http://www.randallamplifiers.com/pro...2/g3heads.asp# they clerk let this guy have it loud enough and it sounded amazing the metaltone was awesome and i have serious gas for one now my main concern is though if it gets louder does it go to pure fizzly treble or something, and if i was to get another head in a few years would it sound good through the randall cab?
Shredding Isn't Music..........Its Awesome!!!

These heads are Mosfet the only tube is a pre-tube so you will prolly need a preamp. These will be fuzzy in tone, Think of it like this car stereos use Mosfet power they are great for high watt music but Guitar tones...well ask anyone one this board does anyone think Mosfet is Good tone? They sound great at Low volumes but loud they brak into F U Z Z Y!!! but on another note RANDALL makes XL cabs with two 12" and one 18" speakers i have two of them they sound right on with seven string guitars they are the XL412's. I even sold my genz benz they are better...Randall cab's

a MOSFET is just a type of transistor.

Well, I don't know about all that but the G3 series is supposed to be better than the G2 series and when I crank my amp all the way up it actually gets tighter, I have to worry about blowing out the speaker but that has nothing to do with the amp, lol. It rules for tightness at high volumes and doesn't get fuzzy at all, it's clear as hell. One things I like about solidstate is that it doesn't sound fuzzy.

a Mosfet is a resistor that emulates a cranked amp type of sound or emulated tone.as defined by the products that use it's technology. these are still great amps but lack tube like qualities. that's all...XL cabs RULE:::::: |

A MOSFET is a type of transistor, not resistor. Also keep in mind electrical components such as that can be used in different ways to create very different effects. In this case they've somehow combined a tube and a mosfet and claim good stuff happens.
I've been looking at these too, but the RG200G3 combo rather than a half stack. D-EJ915, could you elabourate about the speaker thing?
Jetzt liegst du hier, ganz regungslos, in meiner hand und meinem schoß, du bist so kalt...
