Running a 5150 and a V2 into one cab
Just got my 5150 up and running again after it being out of action for a while. In the Peavey's downtime I purchased a Randall V2 which I love. I tried both of them next to each other blended and the sound I've pulled is mindblowing. The Randall Has a nice sizzling top end and a huge bottom end, while the 5150 compliments perfectly with it's rich midrange. With some tweaking of both EQs the sound was unbelievable!
I have a half loaded cab which at the moment accomodates the peavey nicely. I'm planning on loading some 150w speakers that I can run at 8 ohms on the other side for the V2. Any ideas or recommendations? I know it's not really a common setup but someone may know! Thanks. |

Actually it's 220w @ 8 ohms, so 110w and above will do.

Eminence. Legend 1218, Swamp Thangs, Texas Heat. all rated for 150W per speaker (there are for sure much more speakers out there, also from Eminence, but with these i have experience), Legend V12 is 120W and i currently use these.

Imho ALL of them are suited for heavy tones and death metal. The Legends and Texas Heat are stock in the Krank Cabs, (Legends in the Revolution Cab, TH in the Krankenstein Cab) and i preferred the one with the Legends, the Texas Heat were TOO dry sounding to me - it sounded pretty "unique" but something was essentially missing - but they may very well work in a different cab-housing, so take my experience here with a grain of salt, i didnt spend too much time with it.
The Revolution cab, with Legends V12, that worked right out of the box for me. |

I'm a huge fan of the Lynch Super-V myself, one of my favorite speakers for crushing DM tones. I've also heard good things about the Tonker (yes, for metal).

I need 16 ohm speakers. Judging from the samples on the Eminence website the Texas heat 16 has what I'm after.

I've got a V2 and was amazed at how it sounded live w/ my buddy's band (he borrowed it). I sold my 6505+ for it, of which, i loved the crunch. So to hear them both blended... My Soundcloud Page | Bear Witness | The Famine "If anyone speaks badly of you, live so that no one believes it."

You should mount your speakers in an X pattern then connect each part of the X to the output plate. That way both will blend even more together.
