Time to build my rig. any suggestions?

I have some heads in mind and cabs.

Peavey 3120
Mesa Dual/single recto
Peavey Ultra+
Peavey XXX

and as far as cabs go(mainly slant cabs).

Peavey JSX
Mesa oversized 4x12 recto
Mesa 2x12
Orange 4x12

If you have not noticed I do love Peavey cause of value for the price especially used. I freaking love mesa, but as we all know Mesa kills your wallet...even used.

With all that any other suggestions? Thanks

Used Mesa really isn't too bad if you check out Craig's List, and even eBay still has some solid deals. There's currently three or four Rectos on my local CL for under $1200, some even include cab. If you want a Mesa, look around.

Which of these heads and cabs, if any, have you played through?

Well I'm not sure what genre you want to play, but if you want to get d'jenty, I'd go for the Rectifier and Orange 4x12. If you want a crushing metal sound I'd suggest the 5150 or the 6505 series rather than the XXX or ultra and a mesa oversized cab.

Go now, that guitar's not gonna shred itself.

Budget Cab 400 head around 1,000. I don't have money for either but I wanna know what's good to save for. What ever my case shall be I'm buying used. So far my list is what I like that sounds good to my ear. I've seen Peavey Ultra+'s for 300 so I may do that as a start.

If you've played them all, get the one that sounds best to you and works best with your technique.

Don't just get the Ultra+ because it's cheap. It's better to save up and get what you really want, unless of course you want to waste a whole bunch of cash with these "stepping stone" amps.

Save up, buy once.

Good point, but I just need something to gig/record with that sounds good to my ear and doesn't cost a lot. Mesa clearly wins but I'll probably end up with a Peavey just cause of the value for price( I own some peavey solid state combo's. USA made).

You know mesa made amps that are discontinued and regularly go for under $800.. right?

Check out the F series, Nomad, Rectoverb, Tremoverb, DC series, Mark III's.

Game set match.

I know the DC's and F series should be in the budget, rectos and mark a little bit more.

Mesa F-series = Rectifier and Mark series had a baby together.

Seriously, get an F-50 head and a tube screamer.

For Rammstein and LoG, you really want to go for a MESA.

And either a MESA or Orange cab with Vintage 30's.
