My room mate is looking for a new amp we've narrowed it down to a few- the 2101, the Pod Pro Rack, and the Rocktron Chameleon... here's where we lie with the decision Pod Pro - Whats the diff. between this and the pod XT pro? recording features, etc? Neither of us really know THAT much about them ,except, that he's a huge Bulb & Meshuggah fan and loves what they do with the Pod. 2101 - He's tried mine and we got some tones very close to what he's looking for.. Both end up being aroudn the same price (200-300$ for the Pod Pro or the 2101.) I keep telling him 2101, cause its the greatest thing ever, but i think he has a specific tone in mind. Rocktron Chameleon - The Cheapest of the 3, pricewise. i was trying to find some of vince's heavier shit to show him how heavy the Chameleon could be.. Didnt have a lot of luck, but he doesnt seem to think it can 'get brutal enough'.. What are you guys' opinions? Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high, Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie, Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally. Basically, go for the PODxt unless you audition both and find you like the original better.

![]() ![]() | The pod XT and the pod XT pro are different only in their connectivity options. The XT pro has balanced outs and it also has an effects loop, which is good if you plan on using any other equipment besides the pod. If you don't need the effects loop or balanced outs, I'd strongly suggest the XT LIVE (the floorboard model). I have an XT live that I use for a backup rig. It doesn't sound as good as my m-audio black box that I use for jamming and recording, and it certianly doesn't sound as good as my GP3 and XTC, but for what it costs it gets the job done. Just remember that you'll have a tendancy to set your presets with WAY more gain then is useable live when you're dorking around in your bedroom. I had to make 2 sets of patches for it because my practice patches sounded like ass loud and live. -W |

But you're right about the effects loop, the bean and Live models don't have one of any kind.
