Go for the ampeg head

Our bass player uses line6xt adjusting the two volumes is a must for live performances- he doesn't. I would go for the ampeg anyway if I had to wait for what I wanted. Instead of spending more money- get the head you want- it will be far more gratifying. I play through a line6 HD147 ,7 string guitarist. I want a Diamond head. could have had it by now. I'm saving up. And I will have to sell my hd147 for less than I bought it. Lots of time and money and sound. Not to diss the 147 though. Its just now, I'm getting what I want.

Aaron: Get a loud, clean amp (maybe a 2x10 combo with a 1x15 external cab... check out the Behringer stuff for reasonably priced options) and stick a SansAmp bass driver in front of it. It will come really close to that Ampeg grit you're looking for.

Hmm...Good point. Yorkville would cover that clean sound too if needed (I'm a big fan of them for big clean sounds, they just don't do that gritty sound). I'll give that a shot when I'm out trying things out.
