What amp is best for a Seven ?

I have a Rivera Knucklehead Reverb and a 412 and a los lobottom Sub 2 and it is the most inspiring amp I've played through with a seven. Basically this amp has three channels one I call fender one I call modded marshall and one I call Ubershall. It goes from the best clean I've ever heard from a head to thick Crunch to intense gain without breaking a sweat. If there is anything better I'd like to try it so let me know... Here's a write up on the riivera...http://www.guitarworld.com/allaccess...erareverb.html

I understand all that has been said so far. I am on the hunt for a smaller rig that will work great with a seven. I cannot afford more than one good amp. So I guess I'm just wondering what heads and combos people have tried that have a great sound like powerball pitbull and ecstacy, and what speakers seem to work the best in your opinions...

You can go on and on about amps that are good for 7s. Mesa's and Line 6 seems to sound the best to me. I just don't like Marshall with 7s, 6-string yeah, but not 7.

Does that subwoofer clash with your bass players frequencies at all?

Anyways, most good amps out there is good for 7-strings. It depends a lot on the cabinet you use though. I've played Marshalls that are incredible for 7-strings, Fenders, Peaveys, H&K, Mesa, VHT, Bogner, Laney, whatever. OBviously some handle the low B string better than others, but a lot of it depends on the pickups you use and your technique, and once again the cab.

It's impossible to say "oh this amp would be better than your Rivera rig", it's too much of a personal taste thing. If you're happy, stick with what you got. If you're curious, go try out some stuff.

nicks right.... first off there is no "best" sevenstring amp. but theres plenty that sound friggin monsterous my nomad sounds like thunder with my sevestring, my buddies 5150 sounds nasty as hell (but in an increadibly good way). found a few good marshalls, suprisingly one of the best was an old valvestate 8040 2x12 combo. another firends VS8200 head wasn't quite as good. but anyways, you have a knucklehead, what are you worried about

"are there gonna be snacks? i heard there were gonna be snacks."

I liked the Marshall DSL100 w/ good tubes into a Mesa 4x12. Definitely an amp that when cranked sounds awesome for 7-strings or metal in general.

The only reason they are not the standard Marshall power tube is because they are too fragile, making them prone to breakage if you jostle them around too much.

Basically, i'd say any amp that you love for a 6 will work just as well with a 7 string...

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,

Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee

I think that's the best answer you could give someone on this topic.

7StringofAblicK-This is my footswitch. it changes channels on my amp - just like on a television, but I only have four channels.
