Joining the Mesa Nomad club?
So my drummer happens to have a Mesa Nomad 45 long head that he said he would give me a killer deal on. From the clips I've heard, I love the sound of Nomads. Plus, to me, there is nothing quite like a lower wattage tube head powering a 4x12.
![]() I should be checking it out tomorrow and possibly over the weekend. I've also read Drew's glowing review on his 45 combo. Sounds good since he and I have pretty much the same tastes in tone, from what I can tell.Any other opinions on them? Just thought I'd share. ![]() |

Im a fan of any Mesa 50 or less watt amp. Go for it! Thats the one Mesa amp I havent tried, but im sure its similar to the old caliber series in some way, in which case it rules.

Yeah, when I had a Mesa Single Recto, I though it sounded way better than the Dual or triple. Just that little bit of extra saturation makes a world of difference to me.

Ive had some of those older Mesa amps, all were great. The 45 watt Nomad is probably REALLY loud... if my Mesa F30 is any indication.

Quote:
![]() Wattage to volume is a logarithmic, not linear, equation. A 50w tube amp will make about 85% of the volume of a 100w tube amp. Since most of us don't ever crank it to ten anyway, you'll never notice that 15% you're missing.

I like my Nomad 55 head but I still tend to record with my Peavey XXX.
