![]() ![]() | Hey Mark, you should get a Mesa Studio Preamp or a Quad Preamp. Those things kill. http://cgi.ebay.com/mesa-boogie-stud...QQcmdZViewItem |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yeah I'm really keeping my eyes open for things, I'm looking to spend about $300-$400 on a second hand plus shipping, so I think I can get something really really nice. Anyone know about the Rocktron Gainiac? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Rocktron has some clips of the gainiac on their site. www.rocktron.com. I quite like the sound of the Voodoo Valve preamp though. |

![]() | I've had the MP-1, the MP-2, and I currently have the MP-1 Classic. The Classic, IMO, is the best of the 3. The MP-1 is okay, but noisy, the MP-2 I didn't like much, and the Classic is the best pre-amp for me because it has built in NR. I'm not a "metal" player, so I don't know if you can get brutal tones, but I haven't really tried. FWIW |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think ADA MP1s sound lifeless and solid-state. They have some cool clean sounds, it can do a pretty sweet "The Cure" kind of 80s pop clean. It's distortions are a complete joke. I wouldn't recommend it. My friend had one, and not even connecting to a Mesa 2:90 could save it. The Pod Pro thru the 2:90 sounded better. If you want an inexpensive pre-amp, I'd rather have a JMP-1 or a Mesa Quad/Studio. |
