Austin is a jewel in the rough
Stolen: Triple Rec, Carvin 727 etc

Hey guys last Thursday my house in Jacksonville FL was robbed while I was at work. I know the chances of recovering the gear are slim, but I figured I'd post what was lost anyway. I have serial numbers for almost everything. here we go:

Mesa Triple Rec with Ruby 6L6s (this one hurts). But they left the footswitch, cover, and power cord.

black Carvin 727 with EMG 707s; lower horn is cut down for increased upper fret access; no truss rod cover; finish has been made 'flat' by sanding with fine steel wool; this one should be easy to spot. (was my stage guitar for years; guess I'm playing the Ibanez at our next show)

Rocktron Midimate footcontroller
Boss Micro BR digital recorder
Radial JX2 Switchbone
MXR stereo chorus
Ibanez vintage analog flanger (large silver box, two switches)
5150 footswitch
a bunch of little things I won't mention specifically, like cables, cords, etc. were thrown with the pedals into a large, black ll bean backpack that has a Gorguts "Erosion of Sanity" patch on the front of it.
Seiko kinetic diving watch (black/silver)
Sony digital camera (silver)

and the strangest:
my dehumidifier! This large contraption was transported out of my bedroom window. They were wearing gloves, so no prints. Two windows destroyed, two severely damaged. Also stole my checkbook and all kinds of personal items.

well cheers guys and prepare for the worst when it comes to protecting your gear from savages! For the record my house is nearly fortified, but it wasn't enough. thanks

Thanks for the support guys. I'll report back on how the insurance claim goes. I have a good lead on the invaders already, as a piece of my gear is currently for sale on craigslist. But we'll see how it goes. I'm not particularly inspired by the law enforcement, but understand their perspective too.

As for the pawn shops, the burglary detectives are supposed to check lists from the pawn shops each week, and the pawn shows cannot sell the items until 30 days after they've taken them in, so I have a chance at retrieving some of my gear. Write down the serial numbers of your gear and put the list in a safe place. Now I'm mainly focusing on making sure this won't happen again (giant gun safe for my guitars, full fortification of the studio-- into a "safe room" etc.) Thanks again and I'll let everyone know how things progress.

Thanks for the support, guys. Unfortunately it is a cold case. The detective thinks it was most likely kids from the nearby public housing who stole the gear (known burglars, active in my neighborhood), but there are no leads.

The craigslist sting made me re-evaluate some of my views on life, in particular my tendency to make assumptions. To be as brief as I can, the guy on craigslist was selling a rocktron midimate without a power supply. The picture was of the unit in the back of a truck. Mine was stolen, but the thieves did not take the wall wart, so it seemed like it could be my unit that was for sale. When I contacted the seller, he did not seem to know much about guitars. When I talked to him on the phone, he told me he had all kinds of pedals around, and some mesa boogie heads. He declined to specify which models he owned. My drummer is a cop (in Orlando though, not Jax) and we both felt certain that the craigslist seller had some of my stolen gear.

To make a long story short, against the detective's advice (he didn't have enough evidence for a warrant, let the police do their job, etc) my drummer and I went to the seller's house to buy the midimate. I knew there was a chance that this was not some criminal-- only a coincidental sale-- and I kept that in mind on my way to the seller's house at the beach. But all the same we felt that this was a dangerous situation and so were both armed, though my buddy waited in the car outside and I went in alone. I should mention that the last time I talked to the seller, he said a bunch of his friends were over there playing cards, and this concerned me. "A den of thieves!" I thought. Well as soon as I walked in I could tell it wasn't my unit-- it was beat up and scratched, while mine was mint. I relaxed. The seller turned out to be a super cool, laid back guy who gave me a Warsteiner and a plate of freshly fried grouper he had speared that morning. He is a music fan and buys gear for nostalgic reasons. His wife was making him sell it. He had a tweed-shelled mesa blue angel and some other mesa vintage-looking amp I was unfamilar with. I bought the midimate even though it wasn't an especially good buy and decided to call the theft a total loss and quit thinking about it. I at least experienced a little closure. I feel that due to its unusual appearance (heavily modified, carved down lower horn, etc) the Carvin will surface one day, but who knows. Sorry for the long post! cheers

The whole situation really, really sucks man - I'm hoping you can get some closure when the Insurance coughs up and put the whole situation behind you. Stay cool and definately come here to vent if you need to.

I think you have to actually scan it to identify the number...

As for the robbery, that sucks and I know how you feel. My guitar is also pretty unique, and I really hope it turns up someday, but it seems the detectives have given up.

Hey man sucks to hear about this kind of things. I-m certain that your guitar will turn up somewhere somehow, and you will be able to get the guys that did wrong to you. Meanwhile you can take the insurance money and get drunk on gear, so hey, there's a positive side after all.
