NAD...

Finally after a day of southern California going up in flames, I have obtained what is my first tube amp.

What tube amp is it you might ask?

(excessive spacing to raise anxiety)

Enter Peavey Valveking.

And one with it's pimp.

I love this amp. Its loud, has an amazing tone, and best of all, tubes I couldn't be happier with any other amp.. unless it was an engl or something else thats ridiclously expensive. Also, the reason for the 2x12 is it's my makeshift cab I'm hoping to get some cheap cab this month but we'll see how things go, it's close enough to christmas yeah?

Great investment! I Highly recommend getting a 4x12 cab also. It will make that amp sound 10 times better.

Think one of the behringer cabs will do? I hear they're excellent for the price and I'm a budget man lol

I've got a Behringer cab, it's a little bright sounding, but overall not bad for the price.

I've heard they blow out easy.. Is this true? Lol I'd think not because they're like 270 watts.. but you never know

If I was rich I would've bought a Engl but we're not all that fortunate and this is my first tube amp so I'm sure things will get bigger.. and louder

Oh yeah. I'm glad I've finally got an amp that can actually handle the real deal. solidstate just wasn't cutting it, and while getting involved with more band situations, this will do more than help.

Not bad. One of the bands I had to do sound for tonight had one. We had to crank it to full volume though since the headliner wanted to use all but 3 channels on our snake. I don't think the stock Peavey Supreme cab helped at all though. Not a band sound in the mix though, blended well with the other guys 5150 with v30s.

if you dial it in right, it'll sound decent. i saw a band use one, boosted with an MT-2 and a LTD EC-something. buddy sounded good, once i asked him if his mids were on 0 (they were) and told him to put them to 5. he then stole the tone show from the other guitarist lol.

a behringer cab will work fine - my JSX didn't mind aaron's behringer cab at all.

Yeah, from what I've seen over the past hours I've been playing this amp is that the EQ has a bigger effect than you'd think. Not as much as on a mesa boogie but it really makes a difference. Not to mention the massive effects the presence, resonance, and the texture control the valvekings have on the amps overall tone.

I also have a DOD american metal pedal and it makes an amazing boost for this amp. Gives the tone a new level of crunch. Really badass.

I haven't tried a behringer cab. Originally I had a shitty Crate 4x12 cab I was running into it. The GT or GTX series or whatever. Sounded Ok, but when I got my 5150 cab and plugged that in..... WOW. The Valveking really came alive.

I'll keep that in mind. I've heard the cabs almost make as much of a difference as the amps themselves.. I'll see what I can find locally
