Question about the POD X3???

HI!
I was going to get the boss gt pro because it could run two different amp sim at the same time. but now with the pod x3 Im leaning towards the x3. But one thing i havent heard about is if the POD X3 can do spil over delays and reverb. I have an old boss gt5 and I find the spil over delay very usefull, and thats a feature my POD xt live dos'nt have.
does the POD X3 can do this?

The GT-5 had spill-over delays? The GT-6 doesn't, and i'm pretty sure the GT-8 doesn't either.

Delays that continues when you change patches (but just for the natural duration of the delay and not necessarily for the entire new patch). That way when you switch from a sound with a slight delay to a cleaner sound, you won't just cut off the delay that you had going. It will continue on for just a little bit which helps make for smoother patch changes.

you could always have the wah/volume-pedal fade between two identical patches, one with delay, and one without it... you just set the volume to be reversed on the other patch, so when you push the pedal up, the volume (pre-delay, mind you), increases on tone 1, and decreases on tone 2... so you crank it to get the sound with the delay, and pull it back to go back to rhythm-mode, but the delay spills over...

also, the delayed tone could be a different tone for soloing only, if thatīs your kind of thing

i have my X3 set to a serene clean setting with phaser and reverse delay when itīs down, but when i crank it up, a heavy distortion is faded in. thing is, iīm not switching between the sounds, theyīre both on simultaneously, but when i crank the pedal, the volume goes down on the clean tone, and up on the distorted one, and when i pull the pedal down, the clean volume goes up, and the distortion one goes down...

you get my point? iīm not sure how to explain it :P

anyways, if the boss sounds better to you, and has spillover delays, get it... but if the line 6 sounds better, and you only want the boss for the spillover delay, screw that, and get the line 6, you can make your own spillover delay! :P

also, the pedal can "tweak" effects, such as delay speed and stuff, for any effects... i have a really short delay on my lead sound, it only goes as far as 40 ms. when the pedal is cranked up, and pulls down to barely noticable resonance when itīs pulled down... when i mess with the pedal, it has a really cool bendy singing sound

well, I would like go from a lead sound w/delay(stereo) to a crunchy dry(also stereo one amp on each side) with the delay spilling over.
so, can the X3 do this?
I could get another delay unit just for the spill overs, but that will be prety messy.

The GT8 in "Smooth Patch Change" setting has spill-over, but it's a slow patch change. I'll take the instantaneous patch switch over having the delay and reverb continue on.

The GNX3000's patch change time is insanely long.

the POD X3 has a slight delay on patch switching - it's supposed to be fixed in the patch released in January.

not sure about the delay spill over thingy...

you canīt have the spillover delay AND dual amps, no :P

and also, with the latest update, that whole long patch switching problem is greatly reduced...

well, Line 6 released the patch early. I got the notice in their email newsletter yesterday and uploaded it to my POD X3 last night.

Here's a sound clip demonstrating the patch delay, which is MUCH better than it was:

SoundClick artist: Tony93666 - page with MP3 music downloads

I highly doubt it would even be noticeable in a live band situation, but still... it is a very slight drop out...

unless you want to ring out a chord while you switch patches, you shouldnīt care :P

i used it at band practice on wednesday, and it went like clockwork, no noticeable delay, maybe a little kind of swell when i held a chord and switched to a patch that had a hard tremolo on it... but a tiny swell is better than a hard mute
