Which ENGL?

I'm planning to buy an ENGL, it's gonna be one of the following:

-SE 6L6
-SE EL34
-INVADER

But I'm not really shure which one.
The things I'm looking for are chunky, thight rhythm, smooth singing leads and nice cleans....
The whole thing will be used together with a G-Major and controlled per MIDI.
As described on the website, is it true that the invader has no clean channel??
..and is it really worth the price difference?

the Invader has a clean channel that is capable of making normal magnetic pickups almost sound like piezo pickups on an acoustic.....very cool.

Just an FYI the only difference between the 6L6 and the EL34 SEs is the color of the LEDs behind the tubes. The SE has a switch that lets it be biased for either 6L6s or EL34s.

Yeah but there are still different power tubes, and I'm don't know which one I should get.

I really thought the Invader doesn't have a clean channel, cause on their website it says something like "4 different gain structures from crunch to high gain"........
But "piezo-like clean tones" sounds nice, of course... Unfortunately I'm not able to try them both out.... Has anyone owned both the SE and the Invader? I mean gigged and recorded with them?

Well, it doesn't matter which one you get, because you could switch from 6L6s to EL34s at any time - that's what he was trying to say. Personally I prefer EL34s in just about everything so I would lean towards the EL34 SE if it fits in your budget (besides, if you don't like it, down the road you can swap the power tubes out for 6L6s without a problem).

The Invader is cool too, but a guy on this forum who used to have an SE jammed with a guy who had an Invader and said the SE could sound almost the same and since it is extremely versatile, that is the one I would personally go with. Versatility = best

OK... but it also depends on the money... The SE is much more expensive!

And of course versatility is great, but at the end I'll always just use one setting for clean, one for rhythm and one for leads, so I'm not shure if I will really use all the extra switches and stuff on the SE...

Then another thing: does the Invader have a serial FX-loop?
On the homepage, they only speak about "two parallel loops"....

And for the cab, I'll take a PRO or a STANDARD, as I'm not really after big low end (XXL 4x12")... Have you made any expieriences with those? Which one is better?

Invader 100 easily!
sakeido, that was matt with his se and my invader and he ended up selling the se so he could buy the invader hehe.

and the fx loops are parrallel but with the mix knobs on full they dont have a bleed problem the way mesas do so they become serial!

oh and stay away from engl cabs, they have made me think that the amps were worse than they really were!

I'd say Invader definitely. I have played an SE a few times. Never got G.A.S. for it because my Thunder 50 already gave me a great tone, and the SE never felt like it would be an upgrade, just more knobs. I played an Invader about 2 weeks ago. Within 10 minutes I wanted to have its children. Put it this way, I HATE Ibanez Universes, and this was the only 7 string in store, and yet I did not want to stop playing.

The Invader as far as I'm concerned is the best amp I have ever played bar none. Hence why I'm saving the pennies for it

Hey guys!

Ok, now that speaks definitely for the Invader!

As for the cabs, I pretty much HAVE TO go with the ENGL cab, as this is kind of a part of the deal.....

I think I will go with a 4x12 PRO slanted!
But actually, I never tried v60's....

I think the XXL won't do it for me, 'cause I never really liked ultra-massive low end....
