I had one many years ago. The fact that it was made for 7-string guitars really drew me to it. It's chunky as hell, but it has a real fuzz quality to it, so you're not going to get any kind of tight sound out of it. If you like the idea of a pissed off Big Muff, though, it might be worth checking out.

Hah!! No, not quite, though that would be pretty damn brutal as well.

Go to here and download Riesenhaußenscheiße (first track). The 7th Heaven comes in at the end -- you'll hear when. It doesn't work with single notes, only power chords. It's very good for transforming power chords into a wall of grinding noise (with some funny subharmonics), but pretty useless for anything else. People hate it.

try amp distortion with a drive boost like a Ibanez TS808. Youll wonder what you ever did without it.

Do you like the overall character of your MG's distortion? If so, some kind of overdrive pedal might work well. I have mixed feelings about the MT-2. It's heavy as hell, and I love the EQ options built into it, but it's really noisy, and whether it sounds brutal or shitty seems to depend quite highly on what amp it's going into. In my experience, it seems to sound the best going into a Marshall tube stack. If you have a friend or something that has one, try to see how it sounds with your rig. The Boss DS-1 is another option that'll stay more defined than the MT-2, though it's not for everyone as far as metal goes, and I'm not sure if it would sound all that great with an MG. It might, though, and it's pretty cheap.
If your budget is around the range of $100 or so, the Line 6 Uber Metal pedal is another one to look into. The name is kind of lame, but it sounds better than you might think. It's currently the heart of my rig's tone until I get a POD, and for me it sounds great. Most of the clips I hear of it completely suck nuts, be it the official clips (I almost always hate L6's samples of their own gear) or stuff I saw on youtube, so I'm not sure if mine sounds good because of the rest of my rig or if I'm just using it right. It has three modes, and the one I use is (I'm guessing) based on a Mesa Recto. Tech 21 has some pedals that people really seem to like, though I haven't tried one myself. Krank makes one, but I've heard nothing about it, and I don't really like Kranks anyway. There are a lot of options, but I haven't really kept up with distortion pedals since I got my Uber Metal. I'm sure some other people here will be able to give you much better suggestions, though.

I was thinking of trying the uber metal but i was kind of dissapointed with my spider 112 that I had so i was kind of soured on the line 6 stuff. But i will try anything. The marshall mg i got has good distortion in OD2 its just that i want different sounds for diffrent things. I dont want to sound the same all of the time.
When i bought the MG I tried out 4 of them at my local music store I took my guitar and my 4x12 to the store. I ran my stuff through all 4 heads and they all sounded different!!! I picked the one out that i liked and brought it home. I do the same when i buy guitars!! I take my rig to the store and see what the guitar sounds like through my stuff. That way i know how it will sound before i buy it. Sounds like overkill but i'm just picky i guess. And if i buy a guitar for someone say from the net and i dont like it, i sell it. Thanks for the help all. Is there anything that anyone else recommends for me to try out??? I'm goning to the local music store today.

Don't let the Spider amps be the main thing that gives you an opinion on Line 6. I'm a huge Line 6 fan, but even I despise the Spiders. They're the lowest rung on the L6 ladder. The Tone Core pedals are more like slices of a POD pie. Even if the quality isn't quite up to par with the PODs, they still smoke the hell out of any Spider I've heard, as will pretty much anything that's not a complete piece of garbage.
I remembered a few more pedals. A lot of people like the Digitech Metal Master. I both like it and dislike it. It has a really nice heavily saturated tone that stays clear and doesn't get very noisy or harsh at all, but to me it also seems to be completely lacking in aggressiveness. Boss has a new pedal called the ML-2 Metal Core, though I'm not entirely sure if it's officially on the market yet. The demos I heard disgusted me, but a friend of mine that works at a music shop got to try one, and he said it kicked ass. A couple other popular pedals are the Pro Co Rat and the Jekyll & Hyde (I forget who makes that one). Good luck! Finding a good distortion pedal is a pain. There are so many of them, and most of them suck.

This pretty much sums up how I feel. If you buy low end equipment, don't expect badass tones, that's just the way it is. The Spiders blow, IMO.
